Welcome again Lori,

Oh my goodness... indulgent? It doesn't sound like you've had a

therapeutic deep tissue massage before. Trust me... there's nothing

indulgent or pleasurable about it. In fact, it's downright painful and

nasty. I've called my masseuse a graduate of the " Marquis deSade

Massage Training Academy " and she's obviously been top of her class.

Sometime I hobble out of there in more pain than when I first walked in.

You get home (painfully), you fill your bathtub with hot water (as hot

as you can handle) and Epsom salts. Soak for as long as you can. I try

for an hour, but I end up getting bored or falling asleep and feel like

I may drown myself. Also drink as much water as you can handle. This

will flush out any toxins that are released from any fatty tissue.

Massage also dehydrates your body so you absolutely have to replace the

water. Try to rest as much as possible the rest of the day.

AND NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS!!!! The next day... I feel like a million

bucks. Well... not quite a million... but a heck of a lot better than I

was before the massage. I just wish it lasted longer than a few days.

I guess that will come in time (hopefully). It seems that the benefits

from each massage therapy treatment lasts a little longer than the

previous one. I hope that's a good sign :-)

tender hugs,

Norah

She may be thinking of the massage as " indulgent " like I do Norah. My

health insurance will not cover massage so I would have to pay for

them out of pocket. Which means shuffling my budget and taking money

out of either house payment, grocery money etc. That's why I consider

them and " indulgence " is because in order to have them I would have to

take money out of other places of my budget.

Just my thoughts

Sorry , I didn't mean it in a bad way. I guess I was thinking of

all the people I've spoken to that don't have Fibro and whenever I

mention that I'm going for a massage... all they say is... " Wow.. must

be nice " . If only they knew :-) But I guess I must have

misunderstood... this is not new for me... seems I misunderstand a lot

of things... Sorry if I said anything to offend... that was not my

intention whatsoever.

Yeah, that is for sure an issue. My insurance won't pay for it either

but my girlfriend says she knows someone nearby that gives a one hour

massage for $29 and she treated her husband to a massage. She said

when her husband came out she thought he was drunk cuz he was so

relaxed.

My only problem is how the heck will I get home afterward if it's

that relaxing?

Luckily, my husband is being supportive. I thought he would think it

was all bunk. I guess I thought that myself too somewhat, because

everytime the doc's did tests, there was " nothing wrong " . He asked if

I thought a new mattress would help. I dunno. I'll take things one

step at a time. See how it goes. I'm a cheapskate um I mean bargain

hunter and don't want to fork out a bunch of money for a mattress

that might or might not work.

I guess that's what I was thinking by indulgent too. Like only the

stay at home mom that drives a fancy car can spare the time and money

to have a massage. But darn it, if it means my sanity, I'll have to

check it out. :-)
