I just finished reading his reviews. It's amazing how different they are. Some

really like, others dont. DD saw the older doc. ''. I guess he would be

the one to see. But she has seen both and likes both. Also he tested for both

Ft3 and Ft4 right away and she is on Armour but he is definitely open to what

ever you want to try. He sends her for testing every 8 weeks. He sits down and

discusses every thing and she says he has a sweet personality/ He has been as

much as 20 minutes late twice in the 18 months she has been seeing him. If I

were looking for a thyroid doc in that area I think I would give him a try

myself. DD tried 8 docs in the Austin area before settling with Wiseman. The

way she found him was through People's Pharmacy where she goes for her

prescriptions. She is on Armour, bioidenticals, progesterone, testosterone,

estrogen, dhea, and is feeling better than she ever has. I will say, that he

prescribes bioidenticals orally. My doc here in CA prescribes the transdermal

creams only.

My daughter went to Ann Nolen in town and she prescribed Armour without

testing my DD! My daughter complained of dry skin and she prescribed low dose

Armour. Ann Nolen is no longer in business from what I found out from her old

office. apparently she wasn't managing her medical records correctly. Yet,

someone on the database has given her a good reference? Why hasn't her name been

taken off when she is no longer in the doctor business?

The TMB website shows her in Denton, TX. She has a license and is most likely still practicing medicine. If she left her previous practice with ill feelings, it would not be unusual for them to lie and/or refuse to give any information as to her whereabouts. If a non-competition clause was in effect, she may have been forced to move ten or even one hundred miles away.

The Database is the largely uncensored opinions of individual members.

I maintain the Texas Armour Docs list. Her orders do not look much different from those of other great thyroid docs: diagnosing and treating by symptoms, not having done actual harm to a patient. It is precisely over-reliance on tests that has left many of us undiagnosed, untreated, or undertreated. It's too bad she did not think to order some tests with which to cover her derrierre, but the truth of the matter is that the tests, even Free T3 and Free T4, are not all that good. Blood levels do not always reflect tissue levels.

Once the board has any kind of complaint against a doc who is even slightly alternative, they go on a fishing expedition, looking for every possible infraction. Irregularities in record keeping often come up. Even this does not always mean that the doc has done anything wrong, just that they failed to keep up with myriad federally-mandated regulations.

So, no. I am not taking Ann Nolen off of our Texas Armour Docs list. Having been crucified by the cranio-rectal specialists of the Texas Medical Board, she is a Thyroid Martyr and the Holy Grail for thyroid patients. I need to update her contact info.

But having been once burned at the stake, she may no longer be willing to treat new thyroid patients. This is precisely what happened to our two best thyroid docs.

One (who does not wish to be discussed on the internet) takes no new endocrine patients, no new long distance patients, only local family practice patients.

The other, Launius, did approximately the same thing and even fired some current patients as well. He also quit prescribing Armour. He has recently relented and is selectively taking new thyroid patients and will write for Armour on request. If you see him, be prepared to be a very compliant patient. . .
