Guest guest
My husband is always trying to find things that are easier for me. We got a new upright vacumn cleaner, it seems heavier then the old electrolux one. I figured not having to bend over would be better, I think it is, but I think this one is heavier to push. He goes away sometimes 2 or 3 weeks at a time to work in a camp. So I mow the lawn too. He bought a new lawnmower to help me out, lol, it is a powered one, my mind is blank as what its called. Anyways it can move on its own without me pushing it, lol, but.......you cant go backwards with the motor on and so you have to manually push it around some corners, the lawnmower is huge and heavy, hahaha. I must say Im sure my arms are gaining strength, and thank God I only have to do it in good weather because it would be impossible for me if I had to do it in fall or winter. I have much more strength and energy in the summer then any other time of year and less flare ups too. --- Sundra Lizana wrote: --------------------------------- <I do think though that my vacumn cleaner may add to the pain in my lower back, Im not sure yet, but its a new pain.> The worst thing to do for your back in vacuum, sweep or mop. Since I had my back injury, my neurosurgeon will not let me do any of the above or lift over 5lbs. hugs, Sundra Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall
Guest guest
Kristy, Actually from the time I wake up I do nothing until my pain pills kick in. [oxycontin, neurotin, and if needed 1/2 hour later endocet] after they kick in I can do basic house work like dishes if they've soaked all night..no wrist strength to clean anything unless it's well soaked..and sometimes my husband will have to finish pieces I can't get clean. My kids learned long ago if a dish is dirty..don't tell me..wash it yourself. !! And dusting is about the only other chore I can do as far as house work. I've had two back surgery's so laundry and vacumming is out. Can't do the half-bent work other than dishes and some times that can take all day. I've lost count of the times I'd gather laundry and have a sock or something would fall out of the basket and I'd lean over to pick it up.....and 'throw my back out'....stupid...stupid....stupid. Same with taking clothes out of the dryer......So I don't go near dirty clothes...I've decided this is my last year for peas [in the garden] too painfull to lean over and pick....have green beans coming too...but those I can do on my knees... Thnaks God I have a husband who sees housework as a family thing...He has a certain way of washing clothes, esp. whites that he can actually get upset if I try doing laundry...!! He much rather I cook as he has a bottomless stomach that can eat all it wants and not gain a pound. But back to your question not doing housework to lessen pain?...No, some labor is needed to get our endorphines circulating... if we don't give them that kind of input they'd stop working for us. I find that I can hold off taking a second dose of pain pills for an hour or more if I'm outside doing somwthing. That's my endorphines working for me but as with fibro goes we don't have enuf endorphines to cover us when the fibro flares. SO that's my input .. Just Me..... " and for the time being, see if you're mom can do her own. then you have less to worry about. i'm sorry you're not feeling well. *hug* Kendra H. 19, IN
