Guest guest
, I wish you all the best with your surgery, I'm sure it is scary, but the group at U of Chicago are great doctors. We will hope and pray that #5 does the trick. May you have a speedy recovery. Jane Retethered again Hi all, Sorry I have not been around much but I have been having quite a bit of trouble and have learned I have retethered again and the 'disappeared' Chiari has returned. My surgery is scheduled for Sept. 16th with Dr. Frim (at Univ. of Chic.). Let's hope #5 is the charm. My son will have a full spinal MRI on that day since he has begun to suffer from headaches and the radiology report suggested Chiari on his skull MRI. We want to make sure he does not have TC.. BTW, he is an identical twin aghhhh..... M
Guest guest
Hi, Actually this time I am having the surgery for the tether. It seems I am hung up at the bone 'nub' where the first surgeon (not Frim) worked on the diastematomyelia. The pain has really ramped up and before I go ahead and have more bladder and bowel surgery we will try this one more time. If it doesn't work, I will need to consider an ACE procedure for my bowels and removal of the bladder stim (which we cannot get to work) and create a bladder pouch. I have had Frim do several other of my surgeries and at one point I was even swimming 3x a week and entering fitness races -- so, I know what is possible and I pray we can get there again. And, even if we can't, to just avoid all those horrible abdominal surgeries. In any event I am not going to move a little finger this time until I am told I can.
