Yeah, we kinda are the only ones that understand miracles like this. Hey, have faith. That is the start of something big. Once they discover pretend, you can't get them to stop. I was told Aislynn would never pretend play. Boy, were they wrong. When she was four, she started and never stopped, and like you, I too remember when I observed that moment. Way to go, Cassie! Cinnamon: Oh, yes, we get that and we are THRILLED for you. Pretend play. You saw the real thing; yes, she can do it and I do believe you will see it again. I recall, by the way, when I wrote this list to tell them that Putter had handed me my keys when I asked for them; he was four years, ten months old and he had never handed me a thing before in his life. Little things are such a big deal sometimes. Salli

Guest guest
Oh CINNAMON! That is WONDERFUL!!!!! Truly great, I love moments like this. And yes, that single moment will be permanently 'on tape' in your head. Her pretend play sounds SO CUTE. I'm sure you almost keeled over from the wonder of it all. My daughter Sydney has some pretend play with her dolls. But nothing as advanced as putting someone on the swing or ladder.... her dolls and animals just converse with each other, and .... with Sydney. LOL Gee, that is kinda made to look dull in comparison to Cassie's play! Well I am still thrilled for you!!! This is DEFINITELY the beginning of something new and FANTASTIC! Grace I can't believe what I just saw > Cassie was WAY too quiet, so I tiptoed upstairs to check it out. > She had the Barbie's out (what's new) BUT she also had the 's > out and had pulled out the swingset. Guest guest
--- She will probably do it again, and if she stops doing it, its probably because something more interesting comes along. The know it alls told me Cassie would never talk. Oh, yes,she does. It may not be quite the same way we carry on a conversation. And admittedly there have been a few embarrassing moments. Why just a while back, she called her teacher a candya** Well, I always wished she would talk--- so, I got what I wished for, and I ain't complainin' !! (LOL) She amazes me every day. Guest guest
That is awsome....Ebony has just recently added barbies as a fun thing to play with. Basically, she just undress them, but she is starting to do other play with them too. It's awsome to see. I had started her a Barbie collection at birth. Every christmas she gets the Holiday Barbie or another collecter one (to stay in box on shelf) She is now playing with the less expensive ones though and its so normal....I love it!!! Isn't it neat to see the wonder in things a lot of > people just shrug their shoulders about? > Hey Cinnamon, It is during moments like these, where *I* appreciate the little thing, where I see others appreciating the little things, that I can see so very clearly how much of a blessing this is. I mean, you can't say you've really lived life if you've missed half of it and don't even know it, can you? It's at times like these that I am glad <snort snort...> that I've been able to experience this. I still hate autism, and would get rid of it in an instant, given the chance - - but I see how much I needed something like this to happen to make me a better person. I am ashamed to admit that I was one of those people who would have fought tooth and nail to make my children the BEST, force them to be the BEST in all that they did.... never being satisfied with anything. Now? I look at the lines that Madison creates with a whole variety of objects, and wonder how I could put that skill to use to my advantage. She would definitely be good at lining up the shoes in the garage.. pair by pair, no? ;o) I know my friends would never sob at the sight of their child's first word or a prime example of pretend play at any age. I know my friends would never know the elation that comes from seeing your child " present " and happy. I know my friends would never know the sheer joy that comes from your child trying a food that most every other NT child in the world ate years ago. While they have valid reason not to react to these basic things - - - - I definitely see that you, me, and everyone else on this list, have truly lived the way life always should have been lived. We aren't missing the little things in life. Of course, dont' quote me on this on the next occasion when I put my children up for adoption on the list, LOL! Wow. That sounds pretty good to me. I wish I'd thought of that Holiday Barbie idea. $30 Barbie--$3 Barbie, it's all the same to Cass. She took a set of nail clippers (NAIL CLIPPERS!) and gave the $30 Barbie a brand new " do " . And (LOL) the $3 Barbie is wearing $30 Barbie's clothes. And $30 Barbie? Yep. Nekked as the day she was molded. At least Ebony's Barbie's will be safe---(for now) LOL Cinnamon

Guest guest
Yay Cassie! That is so great! Kep has really good pretend play skills but he developed them quite late. I'm sure Cassie will continue with this new development. Who can resist playing with Barbies anyways? This year (and my daughter is 6 1/2) was the FIRST time she ever played in her room by herself... We'll remember THAT forever. She's FINALLY starting to play interactively with her toys. It's awesome. I believe she's going thru her 4 year old developmental milestone. How cool is that? Penny :-)
