July 2010 the CEO of a hospital system in Wisconsin calls

me to say: " You are the answer to all of our dreams. "

(after hearing me on an NPR interview)

I don't know who this guy is. Never heard of his 13-hospital

system in Wisconsin. After a conference call he leaves the

following message:

" Dr. Wible, I wanted to thank you for visiting with us today.

You have just opened up my mind and my heart towards so

many things, and I'm very excited that you will come to our

community and help us become a better place and help our

doctors become happier practitioners. I am reflecting on what

has happened in your life … I really think this is divinely inspired

… we are all really grateful that you are coming and excited that

you will help us. You are the answer to all of our dreams. "

—Steve Ronstrom, CEO, Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau , Wisconsin;

President and CEO, Hospital Sisters Health System (Western Wisconsin)

Okay so I lead 13 sessions in 48 hours on Oct 25,26th - 2 have 300

citizens packed into ballrooms. I meet in smaller groups with Amish,

kindergartners, 4th, 8th graders, assisted living facility, drug rehab,

Hmong, church groups. . . and the momentum is INCREDIBLE.

Newspapers, evening news spots. . .

Next weekend the competitor hospital (anyone heard of the Mayo clinic?)

opens their 300 million dollar new hospital and my CEO guy tells me I got

more media coverage and community excitement generated than

the new hospital. He tells me: (get this)

" Nobody is talking about the new beautiful hospital. They are all

talking about you! "

Okay guys. . . this is it. . . stay tuned. . .

Cool!

BTW, I trained in Eau for my Family Medicine Residency - and did many rotatoins and nights at Sacred Heart hospital.

Mayo came into town and bought the other hospital and the local HMO - then all the HMO docs only admitted to the Mayo hospital across town (despite Sacred Heart literally being across the street from their offices). Then Marshfield Clinic (a Mayo like clinic in north central Wisconsin) came in and bought the hospital in Chippewa Falls (just north of Ea - and famous for  Leinenkugel's beer).

So Sacred Heart certainly has their work cut out for them in competition.
