No matter what I eat it makes my stomach feel like it's full of glass it hurts so bad. Now it hurts from my liver across my stomach into the left side. Last weekend felt like my whole abdomen was going to EXPLODE. I started to call 911 but then didn't want to feel like an idiot. I'm scheduled for a CT scan on my abdomen and pelvis. What I had no idea of is that the pain I'm having could even REMOTELY be from ascites or varices!!! I thought a person's abdomen would have to be hugely distended and be vomiting blood if there were varices...So this is new knowledge to me. My gastro is going to do another endoscopy and colonoscopy in a month. He gave me REGLAN for the " acid reflux " and I pretty much knew he was an idiot and after reading about the Reglan it confirmed it. My last CT scan shows an 18x12 mm subcapsular lesion in the right lobe of my liver and a hypodensity in the left lobe of my liver, my spleen went from mild to moderate in size again( on paper anyway), but the point I am making is that the film except for the lesions never changes. The lesions are new, but there is disagreement within the hepatology deps as to weather they are any thing to worry about or not. One doctor says follow up with another MRI in 3 months and my own hepatologist believes that a CT scheduled for spring will sufice. I think these films are very very hard to read, and some doctors see things that arent there, and others miss obvious things that are. I have a decidedly enlarged spleen, which measures around 16 cm, but the very first CT scan I ever had was read as completely normal. I often wonder how many tumors that particular doctor > has missed which cost someone his or her life?... > Sobering thought. Radiologist has got to be an unnerving job for sure. When you go in after a car crash and have a lacerated liver, the ct can pretty much show the doctor this, but cirrhosis, and other disease have really got to be maddening for them. After a liver biopsy, they have done an MRI and am scheduled for an endoscopy in a couple weeks. I am not opposed to being preventative but don't really know when to say no. The liver biopsy showed " bordering on early cirrhosis " and the MRI showed " no signs of cirrhosis " . I believe they are treating me for cirrhosis but do I need to do all this so soon? Guest guest Posted January 31, 2010 Report Share Posted January 31, 2010 Ed has esoughageal varices and gastropathy. He Takes Prilosec every day abd lots of times his stomach hurts and feels yucky. When he has blood in his stool,they always feel it's from his varices. Liver disease really sucks!
