Greg! LOL at the tire pump idea! That's thinking outside the box!

Yeah, it's funny how that type of person will try to take center

stage, even when she is at your home (not just hers)... She tends to

disrupt things, even when I am hosting. She complains about the food,

act as if my furniture is terribly uncomfortable, tries to leave at

the earliest possible moment....etc.

Ha ha, I just remembered one other quirk, which is always annoying,

but especially on Thanksgiving or Christmas dinners. She complains

when special food (from her culture) is not prepared just for her.

(We're not talking dietary restrictions, we're talking preferences.)

If we were celebrating one of her cultural holidays with special food,

we would never make a big hairy scene (and pout and sigh and refuse to

eat) cuz we wanted turkey sandwiches and Pepsi instead. Dang.

Oh, she's even implied we're racist because we didn't make food she

likes. Ai yi yi.

Would your SIL be better behaved on " your turf " ? Or is there a

possibility of your brother and nephews visiting you (without her)? It

sounds as you live farther apart than we do, so that might be a long

drive for those little boys. Hm.

I hope that--whatever you decide is the best way to handle the

situation--you end up with a solution that works well for you.

Extended family can be tricky.
