Guest guest
Had the day off today, and I went to the annual Clothesline Festival, which is a fundraiser for the Rochester Museum and Science Center. Paid 5 bucks for parking about 6 blocks away, paid 6 bucks for ad- mission, 2 bucks for a Coke, and walked for miles looking at paintings and sculptures, all kinds of crafts like woodworking and jewelry, etc. Each artist rents a 10' by 10' space, and erects an aluminum pole thing covered with a plastic tarp. Really interesting stuff, but I ended up not buying anything, partly because I would have had to carry it so far. As I was leaving, I heard a rousing chorus of song by six elderly women. They had quite an audience there. When they finished, I walked up to one and said, " If I could have a copy of that, I would post in on the internet. " She said it's already there, and gave me their card. So here's the URL to the lyrics page of their website. So ya know, they don't think much of Bush or Cheney, or their wars. Clay http://www.rochesterraginggrannies.org/lyrics.htm " We Rage to End All War " (Tune: " Battle Hymn of the Republic " ) We're the Raging Grannies and we're here to take a stand Against the senseless killing raging in Afghanistan, In Haiti and in the Mideast, Iraq, and every land, We rage to end all war! Chorus: No more military action We declare dissatisfaction With greedy politicians Who make war with nukes and guns! We rage to end all war! We put away our knitting, tuck the grand kids into bed, Throw on our shawls and aprons, put our hats upon our heads. Inspired by the folks in Spain, we do not lightly tread, We rage to end all war! Chorus: No more militarization! We are raging at our nation For spending all our taxes To destroy, exploit, and kill. We rage to end all war! We stand here on this stage and wonder at the sad disgrace That civil liberties can disappear without a trace! We're tired of their lies! It's time to put them in their place! We rage to end all war! Chorus: No more lies from Dick and Georgie! We deplore their wartime orgy! With Granny clothes and voices strong, We'll fight with all our might Until we end all war!
