Guest guest
Zoloft patent extension part of debate over antidepressants for children Pfizer's success in getting Zoloft's patent extended resulted in part to turning two failed pediatric clinical trials into a positive study that is part of the current debate over suicidal risks connected to antidepressant use by children. A pair of pediatric trials conducted as a condition of the extension concluded Zoloft was no more efficacious than a placebo, but the trial results were never published or released to the public. A subsequent journal article based on the unpublished studies said Zoloft was effective for children, and now Pfizer is one of several makers that could face legal action.
