Guest guest
Jack, I haven't seen anybody make suggestions that you go against doctor's orders. I have seen others, myself included, going out of their way to get and keep you motivated and moving forward, asking you to try to find alternatives to your doctor's ordered time off your heel. I don't think the BFL program is an all or nothing program. Some of the time, we will need to tweak the efforts to fit our current conditions. With your doctor's permission, START TWEAKING! I'll be happy to volunteer myself as your official kick in the arse supporter. Andy has put together a bunch of great inspirational phrases, take advantage of them, too. Just stop making excuses for all of us and move forward where and however you can. You can do it Jack, you're the... Remember... Progress, not perfection! phatdawgjack wrote: > > Since it sounds like you all are telling me to go agaist doctors > orders I will ask a favor. Guest guest
. Not to be a putz....but I went and tried a few alternatives. Still a little iffy. I can explain better off the board. Please e-mail me Andy thank you also. I could use your off board support if you are up to it. Guest guest
Jack -- I feel bad that you've taken so much heat, even though as you know it is all well intended. I too am under doctor's orders not to lift. Since my slipped disc and pinched nerve happened I haven't lifted or done cardio at all. But I am trying to eat right. Here is my synopsis of my condition. Pinched nerve still painful quite often, causing both dull aches in my hip and groin as well as sharp burning pain sometimes. Relief while seated, but I still managed to get out and mow the lawn today. I'm not sure it was the 'right' thing to do, but I don't feel worse. I think the mind over matter applies as the added sensory stimulation from the lawn mower etc takes my mind off the pain. I have my 1st actual physical therapy appointment tomorrow afternoon. I'm hoping to go over whatever strength exercises I could do with the therapist. That way I am hoping to get back, at least partially, into the BFL strength program this week. So far I haven't gained any weight, which is good, especially since I've had a few 'off the program' meals in that time. I don't view the choice to attempt lifting (limited probably) this week as going against doctor's orders, but as others have suggested a tweaking of both the BFL plan and the doctor's guidance. Good luck in your quest for relief and success. Bruce
