Joan,

not sure how much to say here, but... support is the best help for this that

there is, and if your husband can't or won't support you, i hope you have

someone there that can. Is this sister-in-law available to talk to

regularly? Talking with someone who's been through it can be immensely

helpful. (Hence this group ;-) ).

I'd suggest starting some supplements before you start reducing, if you

haven't already. Mainly the magnesium and omega 3 fish oils. There's files

on supplements and nutrition on this group's home, and I believe catharine

just sent out some of them over the list very recently.

welcome, and good luck!

Thank you

Thank you for the warm and encouraging welcome. I spoke with my

sister-in-law tonight and she told me it took her 2 years to

completely get off Prozac. She has been off it for 6 months after

taking it for over 20 years. She is still having side effects. I

guess I have a long road ahead of me. Her husband is really

supportive and had a lot to do with her coming off the drug. I wish

I were so lucky. I guess that is why I'm here. My husband doesn't

even know I'm trying to get off the Lexapro. I'll tell him at some

point, but right now it's just not important. It won't matter much

to him. I look forward to talking more with you all.

Joan

Prozac hasn't been on the market for 20 years. It was introduced in very late 1987.

Sorry, 17 years. Prior to that it was something else.

She has been off it for 6 months after taking it for over 20 years. Prozac hasn't been on the market for 20 years. It was introduced in very late 1987. But if she's been on it that whole time, that's way too long.
