Hi,

I finally found my brochure from Miracle Heat Infrared Saunas. It states

that in one study performed by American researchers, the sweat of people

using a conventional sauna was found to be 95% to 97% water while the sweat

of those using a far-infrared thermal system was 80% to 85% water with the

non-water portion principally cholesterol, fat soluble toxins, toxic heavy

metals (such as mercury and alumnum), surfuric acid, sodium, amonia and uric

acid. This unusually high concentration of heavy metals and other fat

soluble toxins is not found in the sweat from normal exercise.

Kenda,

Wow, that is extremely interesting. I'd like to get one when I

return to work, hopefully that will help me quite a bit. The gyms

around here don't have them.

One year ago today I went to see a plastic surgeon for my first

consult regarding implantation. I remember because it's my father's

birthday as well. Can't believe all that has happened in one short

year.

Hi Sis,

We are going to get one too, they are pretty impressive, for pain relief as

well.

It was approximately one year ago that I had a surgery date to be implanted

but came here instead. My surgery date would have been mid-March. I wish

you could have found the list when I did. It likely would have stopped you

as well.

Hi Lea,

I'm so sorry you are having a rough time of it. You know, you can't always

eliminate stress from your life but you can change how you deal with it.

Stress doesn't have to be a big part of your life if you learn how to manage

it. Yoga was instrumental in my learning how to deal with stress. If you

can find classes or a teacher nearby, it could really help.

Boy that is really tough -- just one thing. Probably change in diet. My

diet was never terrible but it wasn't good either. Exercise is important to

me too. How about you?

. . .

I think everything is important . . . Diet, exercise,

sleep, detoxing, stress and anger management, etc.

IMHO, you can score a perfect ten in every area except

one and still crash! . . .

Balance, balance, balance.

For me, definitely, diet. I always ate my share of fruits and

veggies and thought I was doing good. Then I'd go out and eat fast

food and other junk with it. I have gotten more discriminating now

and when I fall off the food wagon, I know it! I don't beat myself

up any. I just feel so much better when I eat right. I have always

been quite active.

I also have been doing the infrared sauna - three times a week for

about a month. In the beginning I didn't sweat as much as I do

now. Now I get drenched. I can't really say that I feel a whole

lot better YET, but I'm not giving up on it. I'm probably herxing,

and like Rogene says, it's probably all the more reason I need it.

Oh,Rogene,

Balance is definitely key. I was just wondering what was the single

most important thing for individual gals in their quest for healing.

For me, I have to say it was focusing on my diet and going on from

there.

I made a lot of changes all at once so it's hard to pinpoint one thing. The

largest change I made was eating an organic diet and adding more fruits and

vegetables. I eat five or six small meals per day and feel much better this

way. I used to have spikes in blood sugar when I ate just three times per

day. I started exercising at the same time I changed my diet. I have

trained with a trainer three times per week for the past 7 years. I cycle

and do yoga as well. Eating and exercise need to be carefully balanced

because I tend to lose weight very easily. I also take tons of supplements

prescribed by my ND because I have all kinds of genetic quirks about me.

I'm a natural health student and enjoy learning how the body functions and

natural ways to treat it.

Hi Cherie,

When I spoke to Dr. Leu last week about detoxing and toxins, he strongly

suggested I get a sauna. He attended a couple of seminars and saunas were

really big in each of them.

I would definitely agree with that one as I work all day mostly outside or doing physical work. By the days end I am really looking forward to my sauna. I have no trouble sweating as soon as I sit or lie down. It is the best start to the end of my day.glory2glory1401 <glory2glory1401@...> wrote: I also find that if I walk first or do some workout that gets my heart pumping before I do my sauna, I sweat tons more.Patty> >> Hi,> >> > >> I finally found my brochure from Miracle Heat Infrared Saunas. Exactly. Get used to the heat little by little. Hotter is not always better either. We heat ours to around 125- 140, really hot. At 140 I last for a short time. Hang in there and just try to enjoy it then. If you receive any added health benefits it will just be a bonus! I'm smiling now. Is that a trick question?! ;>) I can only answer honestly and it's BOTH! When I first started taking saunas, very early on, I would be ready for bed afterwards. If I now take one just before dinner(as we like to, on an empty stomache) I just feel relaxed and ready for enjoying the evening. Later in the evening after my food has settled , perhaps 3 or so hours later, I take one and head to bed.Kenda Skaggs <skaggs@...> wrote: Do you feel energized after using it or ready to sleep?Kenda> I would definitely agree with that one as I work all day mostly outside or> doing physical work. Perhaps the difference between wood burning and infrared. I don't know. the longer you are accustomed to taking sauna the more you can tolerate. It just matters do you want to take a hot quick one or relax at a lower temp for relaxation purposes. Like for your DH shoulder, it may be better to go in and relax for a longer time at a lower temp.Kenda Skaggs <skaggs@...> wrote: That's incredible! 125 felt really hot to me!Kenda> Exactly. Nah, no trick question -- but I see where your mind is at. ;) I just got

out of the steam room and I'm tired but not ready for bed. I'm looking

forward to getting the sauna, the steam really bothers my throat. I have to

continually drink ice water so my throat doesn't burn. I do sweat like a

pig though! :) Also, I have read testimonials that say that the saunas give

them smooth skin, the steam really dries mine out so I can't go in too

often. Do you put lotion on after a sauna?

That makes a lot of sense. Longer and cooler seems the way to go for me --

and for Jeff. What do you do in there each night for so long? I'm afraid

I'd get stir crazy or bored. :(

I love to take a good book in my sauna and read. It makes the time

go really fast. I usually stay in 30-45 mimutes at about 130

degrees and by then I'm sweating really good. I take a shower and

head to bed and sleep like a baby.

I like the quiet time too - I like to bring in my MP3 player and

listen to praise music while doing gentle stretches of my neck and

shoulders. One of those good quiet places to go and reflect or just

spend time with God.

Wonderful, yes. I put on some relaxing music and lay down and stretch and sometimes knead tired muscles. I find it relaxing to just lay there peacefully at other times after a long day. Then I take a shower and go out into the cooling room and sit for a few minutes. It's good to drink water in the sauna. I prefer to drink it only cool at most though. Until you get acclamated try using a small wash cloth when you throw steam. Better yet try to just breathe slowly through your nose.when I get mine too hot I just go out and cool down for a minute. As you continue taking saunas you will get used to this and the problem will go away. The best time to put on moisturizer I would say is after coming out of the sauna as it goes into the skin better when it is still a bit moist. I am in my 50's and can't attest to youth benefits but people often remark on my skin for my age.I really believe taking saunas is a very good thing when done right.Kenda Skaggs <skaggs@...> wrote: Nah, no trick question -- but I see where your mind is at. ;) I just gotout of the steam room and I'm tired but
