Anyone have a Yahoo Group to recommend? Also what would

you recommend she take for supplements to boost her natural

seratonin levels?

Tell her about THIS group. When gets back she can recommend supplements. She needs to know what will happen to her IF she takes those drugs. What did they prescribe?????

Hi terri,

im not sure of any groups dealing with depression. She should see a

therapist if she isn't already. As far as Nutrition goes, there is

no need to worry about raising serotinin as many people here will

tell you. its just a line to sell drugs spouted by the medical

industrial complex.

Fish oil should be helpful from 3-5 grams. also eating foods low in

carbs, lots of fat and protiens will help her stablize her moods.

Make sure she stays away from processed foods, soda, sweeteners like

Aspartame etc.

i hope this is helpful. if u need more advice drop another note in a

week when cathrine our moderator is back she'll have more ideas.

Dear Terri,

Yes there is a natural herb medication that is not harmfull and deals with depression or helps anyone safely with the blues.

It is

5-HTP

In the 1990's it was discovered that 5-HTP (hydroxy typtophan) was another amino acid closely related o trptophan. However, it is a step close to the formation of serotonin. It was also found that 5-HTP is superior to trptophan and very safe. This amino acid is drived from the seed of the friffonia simplicifolia plant from Africa. Its processing does not involve fementation, and the seed is a natural source.

5-HTP is is a chemical cousin to trptophan, an essential aminio acid found in protein. Trptophan is a precursor, or building block, of 5 HTP, whin in turn is ultimately converted to SEROTONIN> protein foods such as milk and poultry are rich sources of tryptophan. A lack of trptophan flowing into the brain can rsult in depression, increased sensitivity to pane and wakefulness.

It is not necessary to take as high a dose of 5-HTP as tryptophan since ore of it is delivered to the brain. Also, 5-HTP is able to raise the level f all monoamine neurotransmitters, which include norepinephrine, epinephrine, dopamine, melatonin and serotonin.

SEROTONIN, however, is absolutely critical for optimal brain funtioning . Serotonin also helps us to feel calm and relaxed, as well as helps us say alert, energecti , happy and well rested.

The normal dose of 5-HTP is 50 milligrams three times a day with meals. However, after a couple of weeks, you may have your friend increase the dose to 100 milligrams three times a day with meals.

YOUR FRIEND SHOULD NOT TAKE 5-HTP WITH ANY OTHER ANTIDEPRESSANTS, SUCH AS PROZAC, ZOLOFT AND PAXIL.

Kava-45-90 mg 3 times a day helps if have a combination of anxiety and depression. It is a herb used for centuries in the islands of the Pacific. Kava has been approved in certain Europen countries, including Greatg Britain, for the treatment of anxiety and depression.

KAVA IS NONADDICTIVE an does not decrease mental functioning like other anti-anxiety drugs, which include Xanax and Valium.

Passion Flower is another herb used for a sedative. Commonly used in Germany for restlesness. the normal dose is 100-300 milligrams at bedtime of a 2.6 % standardixed extract.

I had a friend who died and for one day I was sad and my doctor quickly wanted me on Lozapam dispite not seeing me as she was on vacation at the beach and had heard nurse just see me. Never forget its natural for us and our friends to feel blue due to circumstances in our lifes. If sad for more than 2 weeks or a month than perhaps its time to look into natural herps such as 5-HTP which cost little like $15 dollars.

My personal experience was in a days time I felt happy again as life gos on fot the living and had just gone to the nurse for a 1 night free sleeping pill so to not be flooded with sadness as I had much business to attend to. I foolishly went a week later dispite being happy on the Lexapo thinking I must obey my doctor. I had diarreah 4 times a day which made my Levator condition (physical mucle spasm in the rectrum worst) I stopped taking the Lexapo and have not been sad or depress and told my doctor when she came back. She was annoyed as she gets free vacations and kickbacks I found out from putting people on what I call poison drugs from the corrupt pharmasutical companies which are truely trying to get every one from cradle to the grave except for the chosen elite on drugs for a druged society.

I took 5-HTP for a month as even if one does not have depression is a good herb in the body. I felt good and was no addiction, no side effects and little expense.

The nurse wanted me to take lexapo for 4 weeks and told me it might take 2-3 weeks for it to kick in. This is when I told her I was back to being happy after seeing her a second time prior to doctor coming back from vacation. The Lexapo was free just like the street drug pushers use to offer free drugs to get teenagers addicted and hooked. Then I would I was told be paying for Lexapo for the next nine months along with my insurance company.

What I am trying to tell you is go to a health store, It does not matter if it is a New Age health store, Christian health store or plain health store. Ask for 5-HTP for your friend and try it. Hopefully it will help, certainly it will do no harm like the poisons drug companies push onto the unsuspecting public.

I am in much physical pain and difficult to sit but felt for your concern for your friend and decided late tonight to answer your email I came across.

I am a new member who had a member kinkly surgest two types of muscle relaxers that would be better than the valium my primary care doctor put me on for Levator.

I have notice how group members care for one another and are like a extended family.

I have no connection to Dr. Colbet just came across his book surpisenly at Walmart.

There is a fine halth stor 50miles from me and they helped me find on their shelves the 5-HTP. Either get it from a health store and I do not mean the controled health stores at the big shoping malls through I do think I saw 5-HTP surpisenly at a Walmart. Try on the internet where to buy it.

On the yahoo group search engine type in depression and all sorts of groups will appear.

Of course some groups are sponsored by the drug companies to encourage people to take drugs even if they were indeed well. Others of honest people just concern abouyt not getting addiction and sharing possible suggestions.

I am not a doctor and just offer this advise that I used for myself.

Good luck helping your friend,

Best wishes to you both,

Yes there is a natural herb medication that is not harmfull and deals with depression or helps anyone safely with the blues.

It is

5-HTP

Here is where a lot of people get into serious trouble. , who is the list owner and a specialist in psychotropic drug recovery, does NOT recommend 5-HTP. The very notion that elevating serotonin levels is necessary is one of the biggest frauds ever perpetrated. There ARE in fact side effects to 5-HTP, and this drug should NOT be taken lightly. It is not simply a harmless amino acid precursor and can cause a lot of side effects. In fact, in Europe, this drug is only prescribed with an accompanying medication because taking 5-HTP has some risks for causing a particular blood disorder. Please do not recommend this kind of supplement so indiscriminately. It's not all that it's cracked up to be. And you could actually cause someone to become much worse than they already are. When returns on Tuesday, I'm sure she will have some more appropriate recommendations, but I can guarantee you that 5-HTP will not be one of them. There are many recommendations in the FILES section that you can refer to. Thanks.
