Guest guest
, I just took my first (before) pics, so looks like the film companys are benefiting from BFL! Ha! :-) You said: > On a positive note, I now know, without a doubt, with me as my own > personal witness, that overworking any muscle group on a regular basis > will decrease your muscle mass over time.... Oh well, it's back to the basics Since you've learned overworking muscles decrease their size, do you think you might decide to do it the way Bill says in his book, with only a 45 minute weight lifting session? I'm learning that folks aren't necessarily following Bill's ideas on wieght lifting and so I'm curious. My own brother who's also doing the BFL challenge with me disagrees with Bill on several points about weight lifting and may do his own program. I'll bet you'll do really well in your challenge, , whatever method you choose, as you seem really determined! Terry
Guest guest
Terry, I've been following the BFL guidelines for many, many months and have been very successful in my transformation. Bill had done a whole lot of research into finding what works and what doesn't. Sure, many of us like to " tweak " the program to enhance a particular muscle group or gain added strength, but, I strongly suggest you try and follow the program for the full 12 weeks before electing to try and tweak it to your liking. After the 12 weeks, you may decide NOT to mess with success. Only recently, after I noticed I was on a stress eating binge, did I start pushing harder and harder with my workouts. All of that was the WRONG way to try to get into shape. I know it, but while it was all happening, it was too tough to stop the merry-go-round and re-collect my thoughts. My 4 week pictures drove home the point for me and the need to return to the basics. I have always done a " little " extra cardio for some added fat burn, so I will likely continue to do that. And, I needed to do a little extra weight training (shrugs for the traps & bent over lateral raises for the delts) for a torn rotator cuff several months ago, so I'll continue those as the doctor suggested them. ...But, the repeated reps and extra overall upper and lower body workouts were discontinued immediately after I got my pics back. In addition, most (though not all) of my binge eating is starting to get back under control. Anyhow, I wish you and your brother well in the challenge. Just remember... Progress, not perfection! I hear you, , and will do that very thing. Thanks for the encouragement and the advice! I do listen to those, such as yourself, who know more about this program than I do. I'm really new at some of it. I guess that's why I'm so full of questions! Ha! Hope your program continues to improve also and you'll get where you want to be.
