Guest guest
Hi Robyn, I'm so glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. Mine started out rough and ended rough. I'm not in the right spirt right now and very down, so I'll answer the rest of this question later. Take Care Chelle
Guest guest
Let's hear how everyone spent their Thanksgiving holiday. Very often family/social get togethers can spawn stressors in our post op lives. Our new eating habits and weight loss often produces feelings of jealousy, envy, resentment and confusion in those around us. How did you spend the holiday? Did the holiday create any food triggers or stressors? What did you eat? Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! TTYL, Robyn
Guest guest
It's amazing to me what a difference a year makes. Last Thanksgiving I was barely able to cook. I'd manage to stand for a few minutes and then have to sit. I was exhausted by the time dinner rolled around. Still I managed to gorge myself as usual. Then of course, I had no energy or strenth to clean up and my husband had to do it. I had done all the standing I was going to do for that day. ARRIVE & HAIL 2004 -- What a difference this year. I again, cooked all day. I was on my feet most of the day with absolutely no ill effects. Many of the things my husband had to do the year before to help me cook, I did myself. Of course I still had him peel the potatoes (I hate peeling potatoes LOL). We sat down to this feast I had made and while I probably ate a bite or two of some of the things I shouldn't have, basically I kept my food choices simple; turkey, SF cranberry relish (thanks for the recipe Robyn, it was great) and a SF Mock Sweet Potato pie concoction I came up with made out of butternut squash. It was really really good. Then it was time to clean up. Basically had everyone help clean off the table and I did the dishes and put all the leftovers away. Time for dessert. Didn't have any. I was so proud of myself for not giving into the temptation of trying some of the pies or cake. That was such a big triumph for me. Yesterday (Friday) my husband and I went and got a little Christmas shopping done and then went over to Downtown Disney. We walked all around, saw a movie, went out to dinner and then walked around again. It's amazing to me to think back and know that six months ago, something so ordinary was beyond my reach. I couldn't make it from the parking lot to the movie theater then. Everything I did before WLS was determined by how far I would have to walk, was there resting spots in between and what exactly was waiting for me at the end. Would the seats be large enough, etc. Just an ordinary holiday weekend made extrordinary for me because of WLS. I don't know if the holidays in my future will hold such awe for me as this one has. But I wouldn't change the simple pleasures I've experienced so far this weekend for anything. Yes, this was a truly remarkable Thanksgiving for me. I really had something to be thankful for this year.
