We have a donor that is being worked up We sent out our standard letter stating that all bills should be submitted to our facility and would be paid at 100% charging limit.Are the providers obligated to take this amount? We have a provider in Florida that is stating that they do not have a contract with our facility and are not obligated to take this amount as payment in full.

Here in South Dakota we use many different outside facilites across the state as well as into bordering states for testing for both recipients and donors. We set up contracts with all these outside facilities right away even though our billing orders /instructions say we are going to pay at the Medicare rate. If they don't sign a contract with us they do not have to accept those rates. We have a few facilities who would not contract with us for those rates and we do have to pay the full amount to them.
