Guest guest
Please know I am praying for you and that you will find a swift resolution to your problems. Also does Texas not have a state insurance program you can get on till your husband finds a job...or have you tried to get on disability. Big hugs; in TN
Guest guest
Thanks for your prayers and the info. I called today to check out the state ins. program. Maybe something will work out with that. How long have you had FM? What seems to trigger the bad episodes?
Guest guest
here are something I do to help with pain 1.I try to listen to my body it knows when its done to much long before we feel it. 2.Take your meds the same time every day so if you take 2 pills take them 12 hrs apart and so forth when I wait or don't take it at the right times which for me its every 6 hrs.its much harder to relive pain. 3.When you experience pain in a new area and has you thinking when did I injure this something must have hurt my foot and nothing has your having a flare up in just in that area. Its no fun later cause other muscles may take over like limping on a left foot and use your right more then that can stress that area. 4.My favorite taking a shower I have a chair in my shower and when I shower I keep the water comfortable not hot I relax and when I get out I use my hair dryer to dry off oh that's heaven.Take your time and if possible do some gentle stretching. I was diagnosed with FM in June 2003 and have not been told by a Dr. that I have CFS but I am pretty sure I do. I have had the fatigue mainly until the last 3 weeks and I have the full blown symptoms of FM/extreme fatigue, hurt all over, problems sleeping, I feel so swollen and stiff especially when I get up in the morning, can barely wear my wedding rings anymore, can't remember things or concentrate--just to name a few.I am new to Fort Worth. We moved here in June also. My husband's company closed in October and he is still looking for a job. We also lost our insurance in October.I don't know where to start. I know I need to see a Dr. I got a list from the support group but which one is good. Who have people had the best help from? Also how do you pay for Dr.'s visits and lab tests and medication when you have no insurance?I have been taking tylenol or Ibuprofen of Fioricet with a Norgesic muscle relaxer for the pain. Today I took a Bextra. It seemed to help but it makes my stomach hurt. Taking it very long can cause GI bleeding. I have been walking some, taking hot baths, body rubs with Flex all. Trying to get alot of rest. I got a Winsor Pilates work out tape to see if that will help and I plan to join the YMCA and take the aquatic classes after my husband finds a job.I also have been very depressed and emotional.I quit my job an we left Midland where we have lived since 1974, all our family is there, we sold our house of 17 years and moved to Fort Worth to live in an apt. I have never lived in an apt. I don't have any friends and my husband lost his job. Any advice will be appreciated tremendously.

Hi Yahmt, I am so sorry to hear all that you and your family are going through. I want you to know I completely unerstand the pain, and discomfort your are going through. I also can relate to your husband having lost his job. It has been some years for us, but we went through the same thing. At the time I was suffering so much, that I couldn't go and find a job. Howerer, at that time I, nor anyone else, (LET ALONE DOCTORS) even knew what Fibromyalgia was. So I was just constantly told it was stress , or it was all in my head. So for many years I just suffered, became cronically depressed, you know the works. Getting back to you Yahmt, in your husbands case has he applied for unemployment? Foodstamps, whatever you can get until he finds a job. And please don't let yourself feel to PROUD to apply for any of these things. That is what they are there for. And in the meantime your husband just can look for a good job, as my husband did, but took anything he could get (even if it was minimun wage) anything is better than nothing. He did finally find a good job, and that was 15 years ago. This process took us almot 2 years. But we made it through, and always kept our faith. Also in your case Yahmt, perhaps you could apply for disibility through SSI. since you are unable to work. When you do find a Dr. talk to him about it. I have been trying to go into the chat room, actually did a few nights ago, and met a few wonderful people from the group. If you can, try and get in the chat tonight at round 9 or 10 Eastern time. You sure sound as if you have a very good plan, for when things get better. WEll, hope to see you in the chat room tonight. Gaynel
