Guest guest
Kurt, I got my handicap parking placard by downloading a copy of the application from the department of licensing web site for Washington state. Your state might call it something else. But, I took the form to my doctor and asked her if I qualified for it and she said I did and filled out her part then I filled out my part and took it to the dept. of licensing and because my doctor had listed me as permanently disabled, I got two of the blue placards and only need to renew them every 5 years. They didn't cost anything and can be used in any vehicle that I'm riding in. Donna in WA --- Kurt Kaptein wrote: > I have been wondering this alot. How do you go > about getting a handicap > sticker? Guest guest
Same here, no hassle, which is always nice--for a change! n ps - but is that sticker really handicapped? Guest guest
Kurt, it was really easy to get my handicapped sticker. I just asked my doctor about it. You can pick up the form at your local DMV, your doctor signs it, and you get the plakkard. At least that is how it works here in Oregon. Guest guest
Here in Indiana you just need to get your doctor tp prescribe you one and then take it to BMV to get one. I use a walker to get around so I need it all the time. Bill Handicapped Sticker I have been wondering this alot. How do you go about getting a handicap sticker? Guest guest
I think it depends on the state and what their requirements are. Do you have a hang-tag or a license plate n? I have a hang-tag. In Arizona they offer both. I don't drive anymore so a hang-tag works for me. I applied for mine by mail. I called the motor vehicle dept. and asked for an application. I had to have a doctor fill out a portion stating I had a disability that kept me from walk X number of feet (can't remember) and he had to sign it. I filled out my part, mailed it and they sent the hang-tag in the mail in about 3 weeks. Guest guest
I have both the card and plates. I have the plates on 2 vehicles and put the card in my daughter's car. You need to be on the registration to have the plates in my state. Jan G

Guest guest
Hi Kurt, I live in new youk state and I had to go to the dept. of motor vehicles, (DMV) and get a form and take it to my doctor for him to fill out and then I took the form to the town hall near where I live and they gave me a handicapped parking hanger. It sounds like a lot but it was worth it. The hanger helps when I go to the mall around Christmas time or the doctor. I don't use it unless I have to. I don't "look" handicapped.
