Please take it one step at a time.......

I am going to tell you, that I have to tell you about

being of use to anyone. I will not agree with you. See

you set up this site and each time someone comes into

this group, a part of you is helping them. So please

understand why I say this to you. In fact, thank you

for taking the time and helping as many folks that you

have helped. Just take it one day at a time. That is

what my Dr. told me today. He had me cut back my work

day from 8 to 4 hours for 2 weeks. No it is not what

we want to hear, that we have to stop and wait. As far

as your falling, I am sorry to hear that. Have you

tried a cane? I have just started tripping, but not

falling as of yet. So I have to walk slow or get use

to a cane. But it is not every day.

Lets hang onto hope and keep on praying and supporting

each other. There will be a better day and lets hope

it is tomorrow.

Hey, you struck a cord. Does Fibro make you more likely to trip/fall? I've broken my left foot, first in the heel and then in my ankle. That fall got my left shoulder broken as well but no one suggested Fibro. I have been diagnosed with mild peripheal neuropathyabout 7 years ago but has the EMG repeated two years wilth a normal reading. My rheumy [put me on prednisone which as helped immensely I am trying to get off of it (30 mg-7.5 mg) because it reallly makes me nervous and I've gained 35 lbs in 4-5 months.

Thanks for any thoughts. So far no cane or walker and sure do dread going there!

If you don't mind me asking........is the tripping and falling part of the fibro or something else? Is fibro a progressive thing? I was told that my essential tremors probably would be progressive, but, may not be - is it the same with the fibro?

Hi,

Ok I am new here, but I have share what my Dr. tells

me to understnad that everyone Fibro issues are

different. He will often say to me, this is really a

new area for the medical world. It has been around a

long time, BUT it is very different for everyone.

Today he and I were talking about some of the issues

that folkd have talked with me about. He again said,

remember everyone is different just like we have good

days and not so good days. Everything is just not set

in rules, and black and white and what happens to me

may not happen to you.

This time around I have had so many differnet issues

and things happen to me so very different that 2 years

ago when he first told me I had it. But, I did not

understand once you have it, we get to keep it.

By the way, when our bodies get tired due to lack of

sleep etc. that is when I feel light on my feet. Or

should I say, that is when I feel my feet trip over

them selves and often find myself feel like I trip or

falling.

Often when we get tired and wants to sleep or are so

tired we can not get moving or in pain so hard it is a

major to walk or move the body....what do we do, sleep

or stay in bed. But what can we do different? We need

to get out into the light and air. Warm early morning

sunlight I was told is the best. By the way, for those

of you who are on all kinds of pain meds. did anyone's

Dr. tell you that sunlight and some meds do not mix.

it will weaken the body. Many meds, not all. So again

different things work against us and we just have to

take it one step at a time and one issue at a time.

I had a tumor taken out of my knee when I was 15 and

the healing time was slow and very painful. They had

to put me on pain killers and my Dr. told me back

then, be safe and stay out of the sun. Now that I am

older the same advise is sometimes given but not all

drs tell you that.

Alson, some meds do best if taken at morning or at

night. So sometimes our meds would work better if we

knew all the facts. At this time I am not on meds.

Have to live with the pain as it comes in spasms not

all in the same place.

So back to your question, please do not think because

some folks have trouble walking we all will. I do

think we need to share our ideas and the things that

have happened to us as a learning process. Maybe it

can help the next person, but it does get all of us to

ask, will it happen to me.

My Dr's words keep coming back to me, remember take it

day by day and when it happens, stay positive and you

will make it. But we all need to kep journals or

notes and watch what is happening to our bodies. That

is how we protect ourselves and fight this beast that

wants to take over our lives.

By the way, my grandfather had polio, one of the first

people to have it. He owned a working farm and had

very small children. He had to make a choice, learn to

walk by crawling on his hands and knees or die. He

picked crawling on his hands and knees. I was lucky to

have 12 years with him and then we lost him to cancer.

So I have to share this with you. The more I hear

about this beast of FIBRO.....I hate it, I hate what

it is trying to do to me. But I am going to try and

fight it ever way I can. Sorry to run on and on. But

it has been one long day with my Dr. and I have to cut

back on my work schedule but this is only for now.

so yes, keep notes and I think it is good that you

watch out for the falls.

Well I have to get moving, so please take care and

lets hope you and I and all the rest in here will get

some real good news soon. No canes etcs., but they are

there if we need them ........but it may only have to

be just for 1 hour or 1 day.

Tomorrow will be better. Take care.

Jim,

I have had FMS for 7 or 8 years now. It has been pretty much under control for 5 years. All of a sudden I start getting these symptoms. Tremors, shaking of the whole body, staggering, tripping over my own feet, falling, dizziness, mind taking a trip else where, speech problems, poor memory (worse than before), disturbed sleep and so on. Well the rummy did blood tests and found I have Hypothyroidism. In researching this I find it listing all these symptoms and others that I have. Just thought I would let you know.

Gee. Good luck with your appointment. I sure hope it is nothing too terrible. I have not read anything about falling or needing walkers or wheelchairs in the info I have read, but, from the sound of the people on this board, it is not uncommon. I am 39, and my health has been declining just over the past year when everything seemed to hit. I will keep you in my prayers.

-Lori

Re: TO ALL

Lori,

Yes Hun the falling has everything to do with the fibro. I know that is not what you want to hear. Most Dr.'s will tell you it's not but I have lived with it since I was 12 and was Dx'd when I was 16. I was in some pain but VERY active. I was a professional skater into my 20's. Still active but getting much worse in late 25's but I refused to give into it. Same in my early 30's however every year it brought me done a few more notches. In my 40's it has really started kicking me down more daily. The last 3 years has been the worst. I may have one or 2 good days then 1 or 2 bad weeks because I overdo it on the good days. I am in the beggining of the final stages. Good days I use a cane or walker (NO HELP AGAINST FALLS) if you fall you fall & I am a faller! On Bad days I use my wheelchair. The only thing with my apt. you can't get it around in here. So I use it when I am in town taking care of business. And I fall at home. I think I have some type seziure before I fall. I don't think I am blacking out because I remember it. I just had an MRI that came back bad something going on in my brain, I have an aptt. on the 26th for my neuro!

Love & God Bless! /Wolf~President I'm diagonally parked in a parallel universe. "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Now as I always say this at the end of my e-mails: IF GOD BRINGS YOU TO IT. HE WILL BRING YOU THROUGH IT. This has became my philosophy.
