Dear Connie,

You said:

<<Awhile back the pharmasist switched me to paroxetine hcl 30Mil. Is this

the same as paxil. I do have some paxil left over that my mom gave me and I

want to use them up. Can I do both?>>

** They are the same. But you said you were on 20 mg. Are you on 30

mg or 20 mg?

<< Also, I was going to start tapering at 2.5, but now am thinking about 5

mil. Do many of you recommend this? Looking forward to hearing from you.

I tend to be anxious at times, but want to get off of this stuff. >>

** Nothing's changed in how people respond best since I wrote this

morning. Five percent...5%.....

5 mg. of 20 mg. is a 20% decrease.

5mg of 30mg is a 15% decrease.

2.5 mg of 20 mg is a 10% decrease.

2.5 mg of 30 mg is a 7.5% decrease.

5% of 20 mg. is 1 mg.

5% of 30 mg. is 1.5 mg.

The safest way is to do decreases of no more than 5%.

Felicia,

Since this patient was transplanted in Jan 09 you should be able to submit documentation and request the Medicare entitlement/eligibility date be corrected to reflect 01/01/09 as the correct date....that will take care of getting the ISDs covered by Part B instead of needing to have them billed to Part D.

I wanted to see if anyone has experienced this situation and if so how was it handled. We have a patient that started dialysis in Nov 08 and was transplanted in Jan 09. The dialysis unit applied for her Medicare and she was awarded Medicare Eff 02/01/09. Since she was transplant 01/16/09 Medicare will not cover her ISD’s. Is there something that can be done for her?
