It is time for Rehab Management to become a little more FUNNER !!

The Games of Rehab Management

***** New ****** Innovative

****** FUNNER? *********

I am pleased to introduce a new management and staff development

resource for rehab managers: The Games of Rehab Management.

We've created a new concept in staff education designed to provide you -

the Rehab Manager - with tools to help you staff understand and value the

business side of rehab.

Let me take a minute to describe the concepts behind this innovative new

product line.

Here is the premise for The Games of Rehab Management:

1. Continuing Education dollars are dwindling - you need a quick,

inexpensive way to continue to provide high quality educational

experiences for all staff.

2. Pressures for high staff productivity and low down time are

increasing.

3. With all the recent changes in our environment, staff skills in

the business end of rehab are more important than ever.

4. Most staff clinicians are often put off or frustrated by the

difficulty or hassles in learning about rehab business skills.

5. Like most people, your staff will enjoy a fun, interactive,

playful learning environment - even on topics that only marginally

interested them.

If you like game shows, you'll love The Games of Rehab Management.

We've taken all the most critical rehab business topics - from Coding to

The Balanced Budget Act to PPS to Marketing to Risk Management and

Outcomes - and created Jeopardy-like games that you can play with your

staff at inservice time.

You are the Emcee so you get to control the learning environment and the

discussions on these critical topics. Make it a friendly

competition within your staff and you'll all have a great time as you

learn. That is why this is FUNNER !

So what is it really?

Each of the Games of Rehab Management (we've planned over 100

different games) is a computer-based game created in a format very

similar to what you've seen on TV for Jeopardy. Accompanying each

game is a short article on the specific topic of the game that you can

assign for your staff to review in preparation for " Game

Day " . You hand out copies of the article to every staff member

a couple days prior to the game. They read it and you are ready to

play.

Since the games run on a Windows-compatible computer that you probably

already have in your clinic, you will be up and all set to play within

minutes of receiving the game you choose. After you briefly

introduce the concept and topic to the two teams of staff that you have

set up (a script to do this is provided) you get right into the content

of the game. The computer randomly picks the starting

team. They select a category (or subtopic) related to the overall

game topic from the choice of 5 categories in each game. A question

is displayed on the screen, you read it to the

staff ( or project it on a TV (with the optional computer/TV adaptor) and

the first person to raise their hand or ring a bell (get one from the

booths) gets to try to answer the question. If they get it correct,

they receive points and get to pick the next question. Which ever team

has the

most points at the end of one or two 25 question rounds wins. Of

course, there is the FINAL BONUS question to negotiate. If you want

to offer prizes, GREAT - if not, that's great, too.

In each game, questions vary in difficulty - some are even humorous and

cute. You and your staff will have a great time playing. For

you as the facilitator/emcee, you will be able to help your staff members

grasp the tough concepts by adding any comments or additional information

that you want. You have all the questions and answers in writing so

you can feel comfortable even if you are not " the expert " on

the topic of the game.

The Authors

We've enlisted some of the top rehab management experts to write each

of the games so you don't have to know all the answers - you have a list

of all the questions and answers with full references to support the

correct (or reject the incorrect) response.
