Just enjoy the moments you have. The good days when

come. Many others here have loved ones who know them

up until the last day. It is not a progression that

happens to everyone, so your mom may always know you.

My mom just does not. Hope that helps.

Did he take them all off at once or gradually, one at

a time. If not, no wonder she crashed. I think my

husband worsened after we took him off Aricept after 7

years on it. They say it doesn't do that much good

after that long a time, but he did seem to worsen.

However, he also had UTIs and aspiration pneumonia,

which could have contributed.

Hi June

It was all at once. So I stupidly followed the

Doctor's orders. He felt she only had a few months to

live. So did I at that point. Anyway, it was not a

good thing for her.

Thank you for the note about a possible UTI. I don't think she has one now, but

it's worth double-checking. I changed doctors months ago because the doctor

told me she didn't have one--because she didn't have fever and wasn't urinating

frequently. But I insisted and had my sister bring in a urine specimen a few

days later. Sure enough, she had one. My sister mentioned last week that my

Mom's urine looked dark and we spoke about it. I had suggested she take a sample

in. She must have forgotten and I didn't follow up. I've been so busy arranging

for different caregivers every weekend (we have had 6 different ones), that I

wasn't focused on this.

I just called my weekday caregiver who is doing a good job. She told me her

urine has not been dark and there isn't any odor which, she said are the signs.

Do you agree with that? I'll look it up online now too.

Thanks again, Norma

Dena,

I really do enjoy the moments. They've all become special. Thank you for your

lovely words.

Where in Southern California do you live, Dena? My beloved aunt and uncle lived

in Laguna for many many years. And my cousins, with whom I usually visit

yearly, are in Manhattan Beach.

Riverside area. I have viisted a few times with

another caregiver Stevie, she lives in Laguna Nigel.
