and I plan to use Kareo when its integration with practice fusion is available...

Hello,I just purchased a new laptop and have been recreating my workflow hacks

I thought I would share some with you.-I get my faxes as internet fax through gmail.-I use gtdinbox plus to keep my inbox free and weekly reviews  www.gtdinbox.com

-I use pdf pen  to annotate the faxes-I use text expander (on mac - to insert text date and time) http://www.smileonmymac.com/TextExpander/-use gmail ( sending faxes through the fax service's server- see account settings ) to send the fax.

-use voice to text transcription to get my messages ( gmails search and archive features are great!!!!)-use deferred sender  http://www.deferredsender.com/ to send follow up emails when I have to remind my staff of some scheduled task

-use gmail as my universal capture device,  with jott instead of note pads- use lots of canned responses-fax myself a ton of stuff - instead of carrying it in my pocket- and save to documents online-use google forms- for ongoing quality improvment int he office( eg:every time we have patient calling back re some thing that fell through, we anayse why it happened , how to fix it , how to prevent it)

-use google calendar for calendar events and as a tickler calendar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tickler_file-use web appointments email feature to preanalyse a patients needs and get bloodwork if necessary prior to visits

-use practice fusion/ electronic prescription/quest integration, as I was getting a little overwhelmed with amazing charts tech demands-use quickbooks online and payroll-use tsheets for time sheet software ( the paid version because I like the 5hr reminder- ca laws are pretty stringent about the 30 min lunch break )

- of course internet banking- finally succumbed to the pressure of too many calls and now write a lot of standard prn orders for constipation, potassium of 3.4, sleep, mild moderate severe pain,  for my hospital patients

- use remote login and dictations to do my hospital progress notes from home and late at night, as well as physician order entryconsidered attachment extractor and thunderbird to view faxes, but I am trying to stick to one inbox right now,and as faxes should dwindle soon , with the quest integration and electronic prescription, I am holding off for now... https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/556

the goal being to convert most " work as it happens' to " predefined work'Ok , now anybody am I missing anything?-- Sangeetha Murthy M.D

Have you tried EverNote.com as an alternative to faxing yourself information you want to remember? It's free.

You might like it. Even works from your cellphone camera.

I like evernote...but it is a whole another logon

Where as google docs can be nested in the gmail screen as a google gadget..

hmmm maybe there is a google gadget for evernote as well

I do use it for research purposes though especially when comparison shopping for different products when I started my practice..

and when I upgrade my phone( still on the palm centro) , plan to use it with the smartphone/ camera, where it can be put to far greater uses..tried to get my husband to use it on his iphone, I was holding out for the palmpre on verizon....but palm  seems to be losing steam, so it may be an android, as I live on THE GOOGLE..

the fax is really mostly from the hospital....

but yes will add it to my list...

Thanks for reminding me, ..

I am hoping Kareo with its  eligibility checks , electronic remittances, kfax, is as good as it promises to be

Still waiting for

- a full fledged patient portal on practice fusion ( still lacking appointmentn making, document access, and secure emaikl)

- health maintenance tracking

- quest order entry

from practice fusion..

- Kareo in future (eligibility, electronic remittances, kfax,...)

- evernote - for web research with clip to evernote toolbar button

- evernote on smartphone in the future

- sorely tempted by this for $9.99 rather than distract my office staff  from health care itself - I dont file very well  ..but it does add up doesnt it... ?https://www.shoeboxed.com/index.htm;jsessionid=C8552D27BA596EEE255515F0E34C6F46
