Guest guest
Huh? From: ACT_for_the_Public [mailto:ACT_for_the_Public ] On Behalf Of BILL CAMERON Sent: Saturday, November 14, 2009 3:25 PM To: ACT_for_the_Public Subject: Astrolabe An astrolabe (Greek: á¼ÏƒÏ„Ïολάβον astrolabon 'star-taker')[1] is a historical astronomical instrument used by classical astronomers, navigators, and astrologers. Its many uses include locating and predicting the positions of the Sun, Moon, planets, and stars; determining local time (given local latitude) and vice-versa; surveying; and triangulation. In the medieval Islamic world, they were introduced by Eastern Christian scholars[2] and used primarily for astronomical studies, as well as in other areas as diverse as astrology, geography, navigation, Qibla, Salah prayers, surveying, and timekeeping. In the European nations, astrolabes were used to construct horoscopes, for astronomical studies, and for navigation. There is often confusion between the astrolabe and the mariner's astrolabe. While the astrolabe could be useful for determining latitude on land, it was an awkward instrument for use on the heaving deck of a ship or in wind. The mariner's astrolabe was developed to address these issues. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrolabe

Guest guest
How kind of you. It seems that you think the sugar thread is folly. I agree. BUT ... When someone posts inaccurate information here, I feel obligated to point out the inaccuracies in case someone believes the crap. So shoot me. Your post, on the other hand, does nothing to clear up the issue. I consider myself slapped but wouldn't change a thing I said. Guest guest
Yes, my asshole-nests is a useful thought because it taught me that flinging out knee-jerk responses based on initial emotions is not a good thing. So my mistake taught me something. NO, I am not interested in the delay button. I think we learn as much from the replies we choose to send immediately as we do from the ones we delay. Your invention would stymie a lot of learning potential. It would keep us safer, but who wants safe when it comes to learning about each other? It may not be pretty, but we need to let expression happen.
