Asperger reference featured in tonight's episode of Taboo (Warning: Sexual Content)

I just got done watching the latest episode of National Geographic

Channel's " Taboo " anthropology series.

Tonight's episode is entitled, " Strange Love " , and showcases four

different types of love relationships that would likely be viewed as

taboo by many people.

The " Love Dolls " vignette was interesting, as the two men featured are

Aspies who prefer love relationships with inanimate objects, as such

relationships allow complete control and bypass their stated

difficulties with forming and maintaining adult relationships with real

live organic women.

I've included some text from the NGC website on the " Love Dolls "

vignette, along with an excerpt from the video. Unfortunately, the

video excerpt does not include the interviews with the psychologists or

the disclosure on the part of the Aspie men. (You'll need to catch a

re-run of the complete show for that.)

community of others online, mashing together the ideas of art and

pornography that brings a very thin line between desire, lust, and

fetishism.

* Thousands of men pay $6,500 for each doll.

* The reason for having a love doll vary among owners.

Psychiatrists say there’s no one common denominator behind all love doll

owners.

* For some men, doll love can hinder normal emotional development,

since intimacy with real people is an important part of maturity.

* Men sometimes carry on the complete control over the dolls to

relationships with real women, which may inflict harm, emotionally and

physically.
