renae,

congrats on the new baby, and i think it was adorable that your 5 yr old was

adamant about seeing granpa near halloween. means she has great memories about

him, i am sure it was difficult to you. but remember this there are very few

people with the faith of a child, so whose to say she doesnt see him as a

guardian angel surrounding you all in love and blessings.

dont worry about the yard this year, it is over and you did what was more

important, taking care of yourself, and your 'baby' both of you needed to in

from the sweltering heat. it was awful this summer, i can relate to being

stuck in a month , i went into thehosp last summer on may 30 and didnt get out

until july 5, came home and called the amublance and spent the next 3 weeks with

daddy in the hosp so it was aug before i saw the light of the sun for more than

5 minutes as dad would go crazywhen i left the room.

so count your blessings and dont chastise yourself for a yard not being perfect,

after all which is more important a beautiful yard, or a healthy mom and

baby???? so stop it, you are not allowed to stress over the yard anymore!!!

gigglig as i say this cause i know it is easier said than done, but please put

the not done stuff that you couldnt get done, throw that list away, and start

again, with a new and updated list. smile at the kids you have, the fields that

were harvested, the home that you have, the family that you are, and the kind

person you are for cg , as that is the hardest job on earth, take care my

friend, hugs, sharon m

Thank you Jan, I actually had her September 13th, not quite two full months

before the anniversary of my father's death. We had been trying to get

pregnant most of last year when Dad's LBD started gaining momentum, but I

suppose the stress of everything didn't allow it to happen until almost

Christmas, and when we learned we were pregnant, it was actually very nearly

Dad's birthday in January. So, in a sense, I guess what you mention is

actually so. She was made to be our new arrival after Dad parted.

On October 25th, my first daughter got up that morning and annouced that she

was going to see Grandpa Marvin that day, which simply made my jaw drop. I

decided to take her to the local pumpkin patch - which we visited the last year

on the the 30th en route to see Grandpa -- on his last good day a week before

he died. She was so adamant, it was nearly alarming, she was going to see him

that day, I had to take her. They have an old rusty JD tractor there just

like one that Dad would have farmed with many years ago with his father. We

took a pumpkin to the cemetary for Dad, just like we took one to the nursing

facility a year ago.

Since I spent so much time in the hospital, it felt like I was frozen in

mid-September though. Then, add the fatigue of bringing a new baby home on

top of that. Then, add the fact that we started harvest shortly after we got

home. We just got done with harvest about a week ago. Mentally, I barely got

moved into October, so it is hard to believe that it is November. My mother

stayed with us for about a week, which was nice as she was unable to do much of

anything for me with my first child - partly due to Dad, and she had a knee

surgery about 12 weeks before my first daugter was born. My inlaws were

certainly helpful as well. There were other chores and things like taking

meals to the field so I would not have to haul lunch as well as two kids to the

field as well. And since it was so hot this summer (and fall), I could hardly

stand to be outside being so pregnant, this is perhaps the most pathetic garden

and yard I have ever been responsible for

raising. Most of the year has been a blur of sorts, so I suppose the rest

might as well be too.

Different people have told me their gall bladder stories, some have fared

more easily than others. Hopefully I will just be uncomfortable for a week or

two and then be over with it. I had a c-section, both with the first daughter

and with this one, so I cannot speak to laboring the normal way, but I was in a

lot of discomfort. I didn't present with nausea and vomiting, which is

normal for gall bladder disease, so the doctors and nurses were looking for

lung issues like a PE, and I also had an infection. Meanwhile the nursing

staff gave me plenty of pain pills for the pain I was having, only to nearly

manage plugging up my bowels nearly to the point of impaction. THAT pressure,

in my opinion, is what really irritated the gall bladder, and the 1 inch stone

that they found when they did a scan of my abdomen. This is likely why I had

more nausea with this pregnancy than my first. My first c-section had no

problems, this one was certainly a different

story completely.

Life marches on. Once again, back to the baby that needs me! Renae

Congratulations Renae, on the birth of your baby daughter, Malinda.

Sorry, to hear about the gall bladder. Having gall stones, if that is what

you had, can be as painful as giving birth. Was your daughter born near the

anniversary of your father's death? I have heard it said, when one goes out

another arrives! Jan

I spoke at a Wellness Works - a health information area at our local mall

this past summer regarding services/Choices available to the elderly in our

area- and a couple that attended made me inquire. They wanted to move somewhere

before wintertime. The man made reference to the fact that he had horses to

tend to and then said " I only have 3, but I always think that I have 30 " , and

the late spring snowstorm that we had this year was just awful for him to deal

with due to that. Later when they talked with me I asked what he suffered from

if he did not mind my asking, and it was LBD.

I know that I have not written anything recently either, and have had a hard

time finding time to keep up as we have a new baby in the house! She is named

Malinda after my father (Marvin) and my husband's father (Linus) - who is still

alive. So, I am back to being fatigued like many of you caring for the older

generation. I was in the hospital 9 days and am returning this week to get my

gall bladder out - which is part of the reason I was gone 9 days the first

time. We did not know that I had trouble with that. Such fun....

Must go now as the little one is needing to nurse - best wishes to all of you

for the coming holiday season.

our first year anniversary without him.

I have a very interesting story about what happened at my Mom's foot

doctor this morning. We got there and the doctor was running over an

hour late, due to an emergency, so we had to sit and wait in the

waiting room, naturally. While we were sitting there I noticed this

woman across from us, around my age, and she kept looking at us.

Well after about 15 minutes I got up to stretch and went down the

hall to get a list of her medicines that I had printed out at her PC

doctor. When I came back that woman was sitting next to the spot

where I was sitting. So there was the woman, myself and then Mom. I

smiled at her and she said to me, " I'm sorry for listening, but I

just lost my Mother and I was listening to you talking to your Mother

and I am so sad I could just cry, wishing I had my Mother here with

me " . I said I was very sorry and she seemed like she wanted to talk

so I asked her what her Mom passed from. She then looked at me with

this strange look and said, " Dementia, with Lewy Body " ...I almost

fell off my seat...I nodded to her and gave her the eyes that she

knew what I meant..so that my Mom wouldn't see or hear anything. She

said to me, " I knew it, because I was listening to the things she was

saying and how she was talking and she sounded just like my Mother "

I was floored...we continued to talk as Mother was just nodding and

looking out the window. I gave her a LBD brochure and she said I was

the first person that she ever met that knew what LBD was and she was

so happy. We continued to talk for about another 45 minutes off and

on, inbetween Mom and along with Mom. We were seeing the same Doctor

and we were in rooms across the hall...so while the Doctor was

working on Mom's feet I talked to her some more...and she told me the

details of her Mother's passing...We kissed and hugged and it was

just an instant bond between us...she wished me luck and walked away

with tears in her eyes because she said she knew the pain that was to

come...and she said I made her feel better because I helped her

realize that it would be selfish to want to keep her Mom in the pain

that she was in. She agreed but she is still angry, naturally, that

she had to get it at all...She was only 72 when she passed...and now

her Dad is not doing well...she said her Mom was always great and had

not one health problem or took one medication until she retired...and

then B A N G...this darn disease...

Well, I thought it was an interesting story because she still has a

primary care physician that calls it Dementia with possible LB...and

here's a stranger that knew from watching and listening for an hour

and she knew it absolutely...of course me, I go in and out of

denial...but, thanks to this group the links and the stories and the

CD and everything I had read and learned...my denial stage, I think

has finally passed me for good.

My best,

Carol Incog

Tomorrow is Mom's 79 Birthday...the 14th
