Guest guest Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 Welcome back . YES, you were missed. And as always...Love hearing of your Naranja moments. These kinds of things don't " just " happen but are driven by a higher power. I refer to these as Godincidences but enjoy the Naranja title just as much! It seems it is now your time for R & R and you have a higher approval as well. What a blessing it is to receive this gift from caregiving. I married my soul mate - what a blessing and gift from my years as a caregiver!! Many hugs to you - Sandie Des Moines, IA -- I'm baaaaaaaaack OT Hey everybody! I'm back! The auction is over... Whew! It wasn't as successful as previous years, but knowing all the obstacles we had with this years auction I'd say we were a success. We're still figuring out the final #s, but I'll guess that each charity will get at least $10,000 each (and there's four of them). Last year each charity got $19,000 each (so obviously we didn't do as well this year) BUT the # of obstacles we had to deal with was huge this year in comparison (from my leaving the company that hosts the auction; to a chairperson stepping down; to donators passing on helping w/ things like printing the program, etc. and trying to find new donators to take over; to the donator who was to donate gift bag contents sending us crap + brochures as the " gift " ; etc......) we were SUCCESSFUL dammit LOL and it's $10,000 (+/- ??) that the charities wouldn't get had we not done the auction at all... So there!! So.... did ya miss me? I missed all of you! Isn't it funny how most of us have never met IRL (in real life) yet we KNOW each other so well?! We're 'Friends Forever' Isn't that great?! Here's a NARANJA moment for you... My sister & I were discussing that the two of us should take a train ride to Maine for a weekend getaway for some R & R and do a 'spa thing' while there. Since neither of us drive a train ride is the way to go... Days after we discussed this and actually made tentative plans on going -- two roundtrip tickets on Amtrak Downeaster was donated (train tickets to Maine from Boston) I took it as a " sign " from Mumsie and was the highest bidder and now our weekend getaway is that much closer to becoming a reality. Isn't that cool?! Now to do some back reading... ; loving daughter of Maureen of Boston, MA; diagnosed with LBD on 2/2006; was victim to rapid decline from Risperidone; Mom became my Guardian Angel on Sept. 30th, 2006; Mom is out of her wheelchair, dancing again... " Shall we dance? One, two, three and? On a bright cloud of music shall we fly? One, two, three and? " Welcome to LBDcaregivers. Quote
