flu vaccine

I have my children all get the flu vaccine. It is perfectly safe. If anyone is

truly interested, the main ingredient of the flu vaccine, is the actual flu

virus. They grow it in chicken eggs, use a detergent (which is usually a

naturally occurring biologically derived salt), in order to recover the virus

from the eggs. Then there are the inactivating ingredients, because a virus is

technically not alive and cannot be " killed " , as bacteria can, is has to be made

inactive so that you do not actually get the flu with the shot. (Although some

have been known to receive symptoms). These ingredients are generally the same

disinfectants used to cleanse blood plasma for transfusions. There is a buffer

solution, which is mostly a gelatin taken from pigs. And finally there are the

preservatives, this is where everyone get hysterical because the preservative

generally used is thimerisol which contains 25 micrograms of mercury (0.000025

g). It is not a dangerous amount, particularly since you only receive the

vaccine once a year. It is approved and screened regularly by the FDA in order

to continually monitor the effects that all the ingredients have on those who

take it. I happened to get the flu already this year, because I got my children

vaccinated but didn't get myself to my dr. before coming down with it. In the

future I will get it at the same time as my children and we will get it early,

as my Chiari symptoms were severely enhanced with the fever, coughing, sneezing,

congestion, and so on. Please base your decision one way or the other on facts,

ask your doctor, or your pharmacist (they are very underused, as they have gone

to school in order to study the very ingredients and properties found within the

medications we use). Thank you for taking the time to read all of this.
