Guest guest
Hi Rhonda, How long has your dad been on Seroquel and has the doctor upped the dosage, since he was diagnosed 3 years ago? The reason I am asking is; Seroquel can make our Loved Ones sleep most of the day. If he has just started on it, that could have an effect or if his dosage was upped, but if he has been on Seroquel for quite sometime on the same dosage without sleeping most of the day, then it's probably something else and many of the LOs do have depression. My husband does not take Seroquel until bedtime, because he would sleep the day away. He is on 75mg and it knocks him out for over several hours......Jan Rhonda wrote: Hello, It has been a few months since I have posted a message, but I love that I can come here and post a question or concern and have a multitude of answers and advice! Thank you so much! My dad was diagnosed with LBD 3 years ago at the age of 67. He is taking Namenda, Exelon and Seroquel. What really concerns me is the fact that he sleeps alot. I'm not sure if it's the progression of LB or depression. Up until the past few months he still liked to go out to dinner and different events, but now he just wants to stay home and lay on the couch. Does your LO take an antidepressant? And how did it effect their everyday quality of living? Thank you again for all your great advice! Rhonda Welcome to LBDcaregivers.
Guest guest
Rhonda - my Dad is on an anti-depressant (Lexapro) and it seems to help him be a little more interested in life. He does sleep LOTS during the day -- unusual for him to be up for more than 1.5 hrs before he's ready to lie down again. He watches some TV while he's lying down, but does sleep lots. Sometimes it affects his nighttime sleep; other days he can sleep all day and still at night. Dad was DX w/ probable LBD just 7 months ago -- has no hallucinations; main symptoms are confusion and weakness in his legs. He's now got atrial fibrilation; not sure if that's a separate issue or connected w/ LBD. Guest guest
I don't know much about NPH; Dad has had brain scans, and MRA (I think that is a specialized MRI) -- but we go to Dr. tomorrow, so I'll ask again. Thanks for the input. Susie1 - thankful for each good day w/ 80 yr old Dad (dx probable LBD June 06; dx PD Aug 05; still lives alone) --------------------------------- All-new Yahoo!
