My sentiments are the same. We have a lot to be thankful for despite all the craziness. This folks on this list serve makes the craziness tolerable. I am so thankful for all of you. I started my IMP this year and am bumping along. Anything that came up that I could not solve, someone on this listserve knew that answer.  What a blessing this listserve is. Sometimes I get all boggled down in the mess of the the medical system of the USA. But if I stand back and look at everything and the remember the important things in my life like family and friends, I am grateful to be so blessed. I am really enjoying my IMP. Thank you all again for helping me get to where I am today. We really have a lot of what is important in life. Happy Thanksgiving.

so uh I got up and  I am not  sure what has come over me. I  made cinnamon rolls from scratch Yeast and all, wooden  spoon No electricity( well  til they go in the oven)  Cracked the  egg on t he side of the bowl  and everthing Melted the butter on the  wood  stove... It;s  the thanksgiving thing  I suppose

I was telling my friend the other day that this world has really changed.

I know " listen " and " talk " to my web friends more than others in person. I have

this listserve, Facebook and The Loop (for runners).

I am still waiting for my day to come, meaning leap into IMP. This group keeps

my hope alive. One of the other doc in our MSG is actually moving along. He

already applying for LLC. I envy him!

Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks for being there!

Each of you *take your own call via your cell phone.* I have been doing

this for over ten yrs now and I get called so rarely. And when I do get

called, I know the pt most of the time.

It takes a leap for those used to sharing call but when you cover for 9

docs, you WILL be called many times. NOT SO when you cover only your own

pts.

Any one else find this to be true? Saves you tons of money. I even take

call when I'm out of town(not out of country, obviously).

Agree, Ellen.

I've also taken calls for our practice and most patients are respectful of time and apologetic.

A handful call more often, but you know them and can handle them quickly.

Others call less frequently, but since you know them, the triage is much easier -- go the ER or see me in the morning.

Whenever I cover other docs, it's always much more complicated -- who are you? when were you seen? what green pill did they put you on? Why did they start it? You don't know? What medical problems do you have? ad nauseum. Much more difficult to triage -- IMHO.

Also, for most of the practices on the list -- we aren't talking about covering calls for a 3,000 person practice -- these are small high touch practices.

Also, now that I have an iPhone, I'm thinking of forwarding calls directly to the phone again.

Let the visual voicemail answer it and then handle it from there.

In the past, I did this and answered each call on the weekend, but 1/2 were -- oh, sorry, I just wanted to leave a message about a refill, appointment, question that can wait till Monday, so I stopped doing that.

Yes is consequence of open access scheduling.

Discussed many many times --

In short, if you give same day/next day appts, pts don't call you at nighttime since you give easy access.

I know Thanksgiving was a few days ago, but I am still catching up from the last few weeks. I think I probably would not have made it this long in my IMP (2 1/2 yrs) without the support and camaraderie of all you folks. THANK YOU!Lonna

I was telling my friend the other day that this world has really changed.

I know "listen" and "talk" to my web friends more than others in person. I have this listserve, Facebook and The Loop (for runners).

I am still waiting for my day to come, meaning leap into IMP. This group keeps my hope alive. One of the other doc in our MSG is actually moving along. He already applying for LLC. I envy him!

Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks for being there!

I have a quad band iPhone with AT & T and it works for where I

go (the Bahamas and BVI).  For sailing, I had used a satellite phone, but now

the coverage is good enough, and we stay close enough to land, that I don’t

need the satellite phone anymore.
