Re: faxing AGAIN

I was setting up a fax server for a pediatric group in texas.They used an old laptop and installed ubuntu, and connected it to the internet and a fax/modem.I remoted in with VNC, and installed the fax server software.

I was then able to send a fax from my PC in NZ, using their fax server. I sent two faxes to Jerry Park in Washington.So, all you need for a fax server is

1. second hand pc2. external fax modem3. confidence to read instructions on how to install Ubuntu linux

I'm backI am just not sure what is going on On sunday night at home I was able to happily download a printer driver from one of the efax programs. I used ring central . I downloaded the controller as they call it. I used it

I go to work monday am and though the icon is there it is not in the lower toolbar and I cannot findit/use it/ru nitEven back at home today-same( there are some other squirrley things also the printing keeps jumping around I will be on one line then the words I am typing all of a sudden are three lines aboveYikes my typing is horrible enough. What am I hitting?? and the computer shut off telling me t oplug in when I was plugged in-only at home...I re plugged in and it solved it

The iT guy says all my hardwarare is fineI spent half the day today trying to figure out how to fax to and from, paper;lessly Onebox couldn;t answer any questions and hung upon me then anothe r time connected me to someone who will not talk to me without an account etcSo I am not impressed with them.

I found a program called zeta fax but it costs a fortune I do not have 3,000.I found essential fax but I get the same troubling message I go tlast week when I thought winfax pro was just in the way or something-- I get this product has not been windowslogo approved and could destabilize your system

I do not wan tot take any chances EVERY single program gets me this message! SInce winx faxpro happily worked for 4.5 yrs, well anyway now I have nothing I cannot find anything comparable I could go buy an expensive brother allinone with paper port but I do not need a new all inone

I can fax out paperlessly though I do notl ike how I cannot keep track of no phone book for numbers sorta awkward, using an e fax without a printer driver, and just have paper faxes come in but I do not relaly want that paper comingin

nextiva has some adaoptr DEVICE i think not a print dirver maybe I can do that...anyone please? Hi Kathleen Ubuntu is an ethic or humanist philosophy focusing on people's allegiances and relations with each other. The word has its origin in the Bantu languages of southern Africa. Ubuntu is seen as a classical African concept.[1] The Ubuntu operating system was named for this principle.

For those who have no Linux experience, it may seem that learning how to do this stuff is going to take years, but these days it is just a matter of downloading the right cd rom image, and running it ....and following the on screen instructions.

thanks but I feel fear fax server?? this means another machine ?means money and space FAx modem?? I dunno if Iknow what that is Themodem thing is inside thelaptop isn;t it onemore pice of wires that makes a laptop dial phone numbers? I don;t know alot of stuff.

now ,I have another lap top which died though I can sorta use it it became unreliable to use at the office so I guess I wouldn't use it... I was hoping ofr a software thing I just want the laptop to talk to the fax machine right? the only solutions I can find since winfax pro at 80.00 4 yrs ago died is zeta fax at 3,0000 and buying a brother allinone with paperport etc on it tough a nice imp offlineoffered to mail me her old brother.Imean her machine not her sib. I could do that but I would like to rescue myself not BE rescued

MUST be another way. what do millions of people do?? I never give up....
