I've never heard of that being an issue.

Are you using real malic acid in your AHA facial cream or is the malic acid in

the form of fruit extracts?

Diane, is it safe to assume that you are a homecrafter?

Is it safe to assume that you are familiar with the safety and pending

regulatory issues?

If you are using real alpha hydroxy acids, you should familiarize yourself with

the patent situation.

Hi Maurice, yes I am a home crafter. I don't sell anything that I

make that has water in it except for soap. Lotions, creams, etc...I

will not take a chance on (only make this for myself and family) and

yes, I have heard something about patent information regarding AHA

but haven't looked any of it up yet. Would you happen to know of a

site that makes this issue clearer or has more information?

And yes, I have looked at the MSDS information on the Malic acid.

Mine is 100% pure, not diluted. After speaking with the company I

purchased this from, I decided to use the least amount 2%. I believe

the ranges the company gave was between 2%-5%. I decided to use the

least amount since I am from the school that less is more :) and less

risky :P

Oh, and one more thing. This is a powder. Not liquid or diluted in

any way and yes I believe it's from fruit extracts. By no means am I

a scientist, so let me tell you know that although I have been doing

this for about 4 years, I am still in the Toiletry Making 101

class :P. I use myself and family as the tester (and in a swap) and

wouldn't dare risking getting myself in hot water with patent issues

or with things growing in any of my products that are hydrous.

Sincerley,

Ard
