Guest guest
Hi and Group, <I originally thought this was the trigger, or the trauma maybe be a trigger > I have had EN going on 40 years so lots of time to reflect on this painful and life robbing disorder. I too have had EN flare ups occur after injury--mostly to the legs. I think that the tissue damage AND stress from the injury [which floods the body with stress hormones], can trigger EN--at least for those of us who are called " idiopathic " . I wrote up a proposal for a research study--which will probably not be done anytime soon as we need to accumulate at least $35,000 for any research and the group has, in 5 years, only managed to collect $1,000. You can read my proposal on our new EN Website: http://www.geocities.com/erythema_nodosum/rebecca/index.htm If a miracle happens and we get the funds together we can have studies like this done and get answers to our many, many EN questions including how to best treat and CURE this nasty illness. Love, idiopathic EN '
Guest guest
Forty years! I didn't realise that it could go on for that long! I am beginning to think that I am lucky not to have caught it until late middle age. Re: Trauma as an EN trigger? Guest guest
Yes, but my EN is not as bad as many. I get it in the lower left leg only and with few nodes. Rarely do I get malaise or fever and when I do, a day or so of rest and I am over it. I go into remission without medication --only rest, and I use a compression stocking on the EN leg. Love, idio.
