Guest guest
June, Sorry to hear that your new drug is giving you problems. Do you think that with time the side effects will go away or at least be less bothersome? I love chocolate too. I do not drink or smoke, but I do love chocolate. I think that it is "feel good" food. I wish I could find something to gain weight. I went to the doctor's office to check out my injuries from the fall and asked him for some magic tricks to gain weight. Everyone is trying to lose weight but me. Prednisone did not make me gain weight. I lost my appetite, could not sleep, my stomach hurt, made me very nervous and made my heart beat irregularly and fast. I inherited osteoporosis from my parents. It was not due to steroids as I have only had one Cortisone shot and was on Prednisone twice. I have been on every drug for osteoporosis except the new one that costs $600.00 for 28 days for 24 months. It will reverse the bone loss and is a miracle drug but very expensive. I am going to try to get help from the pharmaceutical company. In the future when I am tired I will go home and rest and not try to walk around until I am rested. I have a lot of sore muscles and one hurts pretty much when I cough. The doctor said that it would take several weeks before the aches and soreness will go away. Love and hoping for better days ahead for you, June. Norma
Guest guest
, The new drug is Forteo. I do not know how to put a pronunciation mark on the e, but it is pronounced like the e is a long a. It is an injectable drug. I went to a seminar in July where the drug representative gave us each a starter pack. It looks like a fountain pen and is filled with the medication. It has to be kept refrigerated. It is prescribed for 24 months and after that treatment, patients are put back on Fosamax. I have been on Fosamax and Evista since they became available, but my last bone density test showed that my hips were six times worse than last year so I was prescribed Forteo. It is manufactured by Lilly France S.A.S. for Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is the website listed in my book: www.lilly.com Please let me know if you need any additional information. Norma in TX
Guest guest
Norma, What is the name of the new drug that you mentioned for osteoporosis? Both of my parents have this disease and they both have to take a drug called fosimax. I am interested in the name of the new drug so I can keep an eye out for it here in Australia. Thanks Re: Chocolate June, Sorry to hear that your new drug is giving you problems. Do you think that with time the side effects will go away or at least be less bothersome? I love chocolate too. Guest guest
Thankyou so much Norma. We will keep our eyes open for that one, and I appreciate your offer of helping us out further if we have other questions. I have passed your email on to my parents as I know they will be very interested in the information. Thanks again, Re: Chocolate , The new drug is Forteo.
