Guest guest
Graham, Good advice--I still need some humor frequently these days, especially the last two weeks of the month when I inhale Tobramycin, in addition to regular breathing treatments and all the pills I take for other health conditions. You are right about learning what triggers those bouts of coughing. I know that wind is one of my triggers so that is why I am sitting at my computer and not going outdoors today. I cannot do yoga due to arthritis but have taken Tai Chi and would like to resume classes again. I do have a Tai Chi video so may try it again at home. I would really like to learn how to meditate. I have taken classes but still have not been able to master it. I truly believe there is a strong connection between mind and body. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and humor. Guest guest
Hi Margaret, I live in Round Rock about 12 miles north of Austin. I would really like to meet you since I feel like I am the only person in the 60+ age group in the online support group. I am 69 and was diagnosed with bronchiectasis in October 2000 although my pulmonary doctor and I both agree that I have probably had bronchiectasis for about four years before I was diagnosed. I had been treated by my allergist for allergies, asthma, bronchitis and chronic sinusitis when I actually had bronchiectasis along with sinusitis, but my primary care doctor would not refer me to a pulmonologist until I had two bouts of walking pneumonia six months apart. I met one man at pulmonary rehabilitation in Austin who has bronchiectasis, but he did not seem to want to talk about it. If you ever have an opportunity to come to Austin, please let me know, and I will give you my telephone number. Since we moved to Round Rock in 1982, we have only gone to Houston a few times and that is when we first moved here. Where do you live? If you were in Dallas, I could go there more easily since our son lives there. My husband has been working there since the last week in February and will return to Round Rock in a couple of weeks. I agree with you. I have also learned more from this group than from my doctor. Doctors do not understand how we feel since they do not have bronchiectasis. Please keep in touch. Perhaps we can meet another time if I can get my husband to drive me to Houston the next time you are there. I drive in Dallas but am not familiar with Houston except I know where Spring Branch is located. God Bless, Norma Norma
