Guest guest
good morning everyone, roger and i were awakened this morning with a call from uk to say roger's dad, ernie, had died in the night. ernie was a wonderful man.....he was kind, gentle, funny and his faith was an inspiration. we are so happy that he came to visit us last summer. we had 2 wonderful weeks together. he would have been 94 in june...still smoked a pipe, never had a headache ..ever!..... cared for roger's mum for years with alzheimers and then visited every day at the nursing home. he was very loving and appreciated everything.....and always said, 'what's the use of grousing~'.....ie complaining. he swam every week, walked miles, played scrabble,gardened...just put in his peas in the garden!!! was wanting to prune his fruit trees soon!!!! he said there weren't enough hours in the day for him. he could recite poetry flawlessly, loved to sing and loved 'modern' music at the church and wished there was more of it. he typed letters to us because his hand was shaky and enclosed cuttings from the local newspaper and his church bulletin for us to read.. roger talked with him on sunday as was his usual routine and he was fine. he was a blessing to us and we shall miss him dreadfully but we are thankful that he passed peacefully after a wonderful 93 years. in tears. jennifer in nanaimoPost your free ad now! Guest guest
Hi & , My best wishes to you both, and sincerest sympathy in the loss of Ernie, he sounds like a man who knew how to live life well and to the fullest! My father is 87, and sounds a lot like Ernie in the things he enjoys, the way he approaches life. I would imagine Ernie was an inspiration to you all, as my father is to us. My thoughts are with you both, I have only written on this thread a couple of times a long time ago, but do read the contributions of all of you every day, and get a lot out of it, best wishes, Lesley > good morning everyone, > roger and i were awakened this morning with a call from uk to say roger's dad, ernie, had died in the night. > ernie was a wonderful man.....he was kind, gentle, funny and his faith was an inspiration. > we are so happy that he came to visit us last summer. we had 2 wonderful weeks together. > he would have been 94 in june...still smoked a pipe, never had a headache ..ever!..... cared for roger's mum for years with alzheimers and then visited every day at the nursing home. he was very loving and appreciated everything.....and always said, 'what's the use of grousing~'.....ie complaining. > he swam every week, walked miles, played scrabble,gardened...just put in his peas in the garden!!! was wanting to prune his fruit trees soon!!!! > he said there weren't enough hours in the day for him. he could recite poetry flawlessly, loved to sing and loved 'modern' music at the church and wished there was more of it. > he typed letters to us because his hand was shaky and enclosed cuttings from the local newspaper and his church bulletin for us to read.. > roger talked with him on sunday as was his usual routine and he was fine. > he was a blessing to us and we shall miss him dreadfully but we are thankful that he passed peacefully after a wonderful 93 years. > in tears. > jennifer in nanaimo > > > > > --------------------------------- > Post your free ad now!
