Primary Duties & Internship benefits: The Arts Administration intern in the NYSCA Dance Program has the opportunity to participate in the myriad activities of the Dance Program. These activities include everything from general word processing and filing, to reorganization of the Director's files, cataloguing and assignment of audits, compilation of the funding allocation master list, statistical analysis, and attendance at application review, Dance Panel and Council meetings. These meetings can afford an inside view of the artistic and fiscal workings of an organization, and the Dance Panel and Council meetings represent the funding process in action. It is possible for an intern working in the Dance Program to learn about the complexities of arts funding, and to gain more awareness of the problems and needs of the field. Also, the intern works closely with the Dance Program Director and communicates with applicant organizations through telephone, letter and email. The hours range from 15 to 20 hours per week and are quite flexible.
