Guest guest Posted April 28, 2006 Report Share Posted April 28, 2006 Miami-Dade County Public Schools Employment Opportunities in School Art Therapy The Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) Clinical Art Therapy Program is dedicated to helping at-risk students reach their maximum cognitive and emotional potential through the vehicle of creative expression. M-DCPS art therapists work as part of a treatment team. They consult, assess, design and implement individualized treatment plans to help students access their education. M-DCPS art therapists are hired through the district office. They provide individual and small group sessions to students identified as severely emotionally disturbed or emotionally handicapped. Presently, over 3/4 of the M-DCPS clinical art therapists are board certified (ATR-BC). The minimum requirements for M-DCPS clinical art therapists are: · a masters' degree in art therapy · eligibility for registration with the American Art Therapy Association and board certification from the American Art Therapy Association Credentialing Board · teaching certification from Florida or a reciprocal state or the potential for teaching certification with additional course work. There are presently openings for art therapists in M-DCPS. There is or was a part-time position available @ Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn in the Department of Psychiatry. Hope this works out for you. Have a blessed day, Barbara job Hello all, on this chilly January day. I am seeking a part-time art therapy position, working with individuals or groups. I have a masters in Art Therapy, a BFA in Art Education, and have experience working with both adults and children as an educator and a clinician. I am a practicing artist as well, and recently submitted an illustrated chapter for Moon's upcoming book on Media & Materials in Art Therapy, which will be published by Routledge. My most recent position was with Hospital Audiences, Inc, where I coordinated art-based workshops for adults with developmental and mental disabilities and adults with chronic mental illness.
