Guest guest
Red Rice Yeast contains a Statin called Compactin. Daiichi-Sankyo isolated Compactin from Red Rice Yeast in 1955. So if you don't want to take a statin, you don't want to take Red Rice Yeast. Policosanol is a wax extracted from sugar cane, developed in Cuba. I tried it and the benefits were barely noticeable. I think you will be impressed by the results of Tricor. I use the smallest dose, 48 mg - and even these I cut in half. Tricor fixes a problem caused by HIV and HIV anti-viral drugs. Both down-regulate PPAR-alpha, a pathway in cells for metabolizing fat. Tricor up-regulates this same pathway, fixing the problem caused by HIV and HIV anti-virals. I have found Tricor to be especially effective in raising good HDL-Cholesterol levels and lowering Triglycerides. >> Thank you , Norm and others for your replies to my email on statins causing neuropathy. I talked with my doctors assistant yesterday and she said my doctor recommends I go off the pravastatin for two weeks to see if the very mild neuropathy resolves itself and then possibly go back on it. But I am feeling very hesitant now on going back onto it. I've increased the dosage of my L-Carnitine since yesterday to 1000 and I'd like to research more about the policosanol that mentioned. At one time I wanted to try Red Yeast Rice but found out through research that it has lovastatin in it which doesn't go with my meds. I'm wondering if the Policosanol has lovastatin in it too since it is made with rice as well, in what I've seen online so far. I have never heard of pantethine before so I'll look to see what that is all about. : ) Has anyone in here had success in lowering cholesterol with the policosanol?> > > > >>Whatever you decide, try to stabilize your regimen for a couple of weeks. > Get bloodwork (an overnight fast is best) and then start a program.
