Guest guest
Yesterday we went for an Id dinner to papa's friend's place. Now this friend of papa's is basically a vet, and used to come to our poultry farm (when it was functioning) to look after the murgis. Uncle has shifted to a new place at G'gaon, about 20 min drive from my parents' place. Well these apts, are basically 2-3 storey kothis. Now this place, they have merged two plots together, and basically never got the beech ki compound wall constructed. so it seems like a friendly family verandah space in between. the ladis can actually wave out to each other from the kitchens! Now yesterday, we went to a " Muslim's " house. (obviously). Huge guest list (for a house party i mean), 20-25 people. among them were their neighbours, a Hindu, and a Christian! and among others invited were Maharashtrians and obviously the Christians were basically Keralites! (a total religion and regional integration). The names of the three women neighbours were Rehana, Vandana, and phine! Sirf ek Sardarni ki kami thi. Otherwise, it would've been Hindu Muslim Sikh Isaai..... Sab hain bhai bhai (Bahen-Bahen here)!!! And the neighbours were genuinely fond of each other. From their talks it was obvious that the kids were in and out of each other's houses, as and when they felt like it! Seeing that, it felt nice, really nice. I wish the whole of India was like that! Anyway, the kebabs were lovely. Yum!!! And not to forget the Seviyan. God alone knows how Rehana aunty did it, after all 30 rozas, and she has people coming over the whole day, so khana shuroo hi rahata hai! Plus she was smiling throughout, and was even packing food for people. " Oh! your kids could not come because of tution! Here khana le jao. I know how painful it can be to go home and cook after coming from a party. " Wow! i wish i could be half as good as a hostess. Kudos Rehana aunty. Anchita PS: Her servant who basically made the Biryani and assissted with the kebabas was named " Ram...(something, something; i forgot!) Guest guest
Dear Anchita, That was a wonderful description of a national integration Id. I only wish people like you were in the majority. Then this earth would have been a far better place to live. Unfortunately, bigots and fanatics are dominant, so we have to tolerate them.
