I have developed a real deep seated anger over the ‘social skill’ phrase

Ditto,Gail !! I took my dd out of public school,last year,,because she was being bullied,on a daily basis. She had no social skills,,and she had gone to public school,,for 5 years ! So,,I figure,,the school wasn't helping her social skills,,so surely being homeschooled can't hurt her. After having her home,,this year,,I decided to take all the kids out. My ds is 6,,and far advanced,,so he was bored with school. I think homeschooling is wonderful some days,,,and hard,,,other days,,,,,,but at least I can rest assured,that my dd isn't locking herself in the bathroom,,or spending her entire day,in the content mastery room,,because that is the only place she feels safe.

And anyway,,,,I'm pretty sure I heard ,at least a thousand times,,when I was in school "Stop talking,,,you're not here to socialize" LOL
