I would estimate Nashville to be about four hours from Atlanta, if you go North, to Chattanooga and veer left.

Vanderbilt to study autism, sleep

By Colleen Creamer, ccreamer@...March 19, 2004

Vanderbilt University is calling for families of children with and without autism to partake in two studies: how children with autism interact with siblings and a sleep study. Autism is a developmental brain disorder that limits a person’s ability to communicate and socially interact with others. The sleep study will compare sleep patterns in children with autism to those of typically developing children between the ages of 4 and 10. The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center and the Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders will conduct the study. The social interaction study will measure brain activity and social interest in young children. Two groups of children are being recruited — children with autism between the ages of 24 and 60 months and 12- to 18-month-old brothers and sisters of children with autism. The sleep study will explore sleep patterns in children with autism as compared to typically developing children between 4 and 10 years old. The study has four stages. Only some of the children who complete each stage will be asked to participate in the next. For more information on the sleep study, contact Lynnette at 936-0448 or lynnette.henderson@.... For information on the social interest study, e-mail Tina at tina.patterson@....
