Guest guest
Dear Ravin and Muthu, Thanks for the enlightening facts about the lowly cockroach. Here are some more facts. The cockroach is among the very few living fossils. i.e. Fossils of cockroach exist dating back to around 260 million years ago. Cockroaches were the dominant species on earth in the Carboniferous era. Cockroaches are considered the most primitive of creatures because their young are born resembling the adult entirely. Cockroaches can survive nuclear radiations because they do not have many actively mitotic cells, which are the main target of radiation. A cockroach can survive with its head cut for more than 10 days. Ultimately it dies due to water deprivation. Now here is a point to ponder: Is the female cockroach called a Hen-roach? Think! Think! Guest guest
Thanks Ravin, for the correction. I was off by 30 million years. (Give or take a few millions) If the theory of reincarnation is true, one can always wish to be a cockroach in the next janam. This will ensure your survival beyond World War III (nuclear). You can pray that you do not encounter Boric Acid* on the way! Kishore Shah 1974 *Boric Acid prevents resistance because it acts chemically by dissolving the chitnous body of the cockroach, and one cannot develop resistance to corrosive agents. Or can one?
