Guest guest
I don't know right now. They had to wait until her was 5dys old to start the workup. They did the renal ultrasound and a VCUG and found hydronephorsis but not a reason for it. He was put on Septra once a day and went back a year later for another US. Still should hydronephrosis but they stopped the Septra and sent us on our way. When he was 2 he was suppose to have another US but the military decided not to do it. I am hoping to get the docs to do one now on his. My 3yr old daughter who is also on the spectrum has reflux in her left kidney that was picked up after an infection in Dec 02. She has been on Septra daily since then and has had many questionable times when they think her unexplained fevers is an infection trying to pop up. Her reflux is right on the border of watching and needing surgery. She goes back to the urologist in August for another US and VCUG. If the reflux is still there they are going to do surgery. MISSY SAHM to some special kids!!! All kid's are gifted; some just open their packages earlier than others. -- Carr kidneys > > > > > > In a message dated 6/19/04 6:43:04 AM Central Daylight Time, > autism-aspergers writes: > > Did he have the sonogram? Guest guest
Hi Missy I have a July 16 appointment for my 4 year old mildly autistic son. All he shows is mild blood detected in urine dipstick I did at home. I made an appointment directly to the urologist since last time (with my now 17 year old) we went 8 years without doing further tests except urine screen every year showing mild non-hemolyzed blood. I got fed up with my other son's ped. not doing more so I brought him to urologist where they found Uretero-pelvic-junction obstruction (they said was a congenital abnormality) with severe hydronephrosis to right kidney. He later had surgery but has very little function to that kidney due to damage from long standing hydronephrosis. They also found an unusual little stone, but that is not the only reason for his problem. I was told that " its just a fluke, not genetic, no need to check other children " I didnt worry about my younger son not producing a specimen for his regular checkups afterall it was just some wild thing " that just happens sometimes " . ARGH!!!!!Now that he is 4 and is showing blood in his urine, I am not wasting any time. Im really worried about it even though he seems fine except he is just slightly barely anemic.
