Hi everybody,

The causes of asthma are varied, so I would assume the " attacks "

would vary as well. Please let me know what symptoms you have which

constitute an attack.

For me: I hyperventilate easily and this starts up because of a

usually congested nose. Asthma sufferers should always breathe

through their nose; but even with the Buteyko method of relieving a

stopped up nose, (which I am just learning to do), it takes a few

minutes to get relief. Coughing also stops up my nose and causes

hyperventilation. I choke, gag, gasp, you name it. My biggest

problem during all of the above is shortness of breath, tightness in

my chest and I get big-time shakes and muscle weakness. There is

even a darkness that seems to cloud over my eyes even though I can

still see. Hoarseness is another problem.

By the way, I use albuterol via an inhaler, no sooner than two hours

apart. Has anyone had to use their rescue med before the prescribed

time? What happens if we do?

Hi

I have silent asthma which is a total pain in the ass, as I don't wheeze anymore, my chest just gets tighter and tighter as the day progresses, failing that tighter and tighter as minutes progress, I have my own nebulizer and take zillions of asthma meds what I usually do is up my steroids to 40 mgs and take my ventolin if that fails it hit the nebulizer failing that it a hospital job, where I get hell for leaving it too long so what do, they do give me more steroids more nebs and keep me in for seven days. My wheezy days are over as things have just got worse and worse over the last few months, I still wheeze in the morning but the ventolin takes care of that. Short of breath seems to be a daily thing now I can't walk up stairs without me panting like a dog that ran after the post man, I'd love to knock that on the head. I'm taking a load of herbal meds to see if they will make a difference, time will tell with them.
