Hi there, I am also very interested in this – I think that test is new to Br Hospital, so unlikely that very many kids would have had it done so far and been treated it Automic disturbances. I could be wrong.. When you say that result with Ketitofen was quite marked do you mean effect on behaviour and symptoms? Or something else?VERY interested to hear how you got Neuro referral!! Dr G did an Autonomic test on ds 7yrs old. He prescribed Ketotifen and will reassess this month (3 months since starting Ketotifen). The result was quite marked and by the effects of the medication it is likely to be viral related. Ds also has HBOT and his test at BS showed oxygen levels just below

normal...after ds had just completed 2 weeks of intensive HBOT! So Dr G agrees

that without the HBOT the oxygen level would have been much lower.

Autonomic system is huge and symptoms vary...I am only guessing but ds possibly

Motor autonomic disturbance.

I do feel that the autonomic test carried out at BS is significant test for ds

as NHS to come up with same red flag now....if BS hadn't done test initially

then NHS would never have done ECG on ds.

I will update when I know more also as ds having the tests tomorrow. Still

confused and of course worried about what the outcomes will be.

Sorry to answer your other question the Ketitofen did the opposite and caused

breathing/sinus problems! But no other changes showing that 'viral' is the

focus...as does ds Autism Panel showed measels and MBP autoantibodies 3 years

ago....but that another question on here and worried about treatment for that

esp immuniver(sp?) for measels high titers.

My son has most of the symptoms you listed. I am very interested in this

testing. I think we will have to see dr G. Was the test very expensive? How did

your son cope with it? We haven't seen a neurologist ever, because our ped is

blocking it.

There are many symptoms just by googling 'Autonomic disturbance' ADAM website

and Mayo good reads also. I would not say that your dc has/not to have this test

it is not for me to say, best to speak to Dr G and these symptoms common in ASD!

So please don't take my word as not a medic. Their are many many symptoms. The

test takes 20 minutes if child is still. It depends on why you want your dc to

see neurologist? Mine was for seizures and mito issues. The Pead can do ECG also

and read it....but I guess because I had Dr G letter saying ds had problems and

needed more tests added weight rather than from just mum. If ds had not had

Neuro appointment next day I would have waited for Pead appointment to ask for

tests Dr G suddested.

There are many symptoms just by googling 'Autonomic disturbance' ADAM website

and Mayo good reads also. I would not say that your dc has/not to have this test

it is not for me to say, best to speak to Dr G and these symptoms common in ASD!

So please don't take my word as not a medic. Their are many many symptoms. The

test takes 20 minutes if child is still. It depends on why you want your dc to

see neurologist? Mine was for seizures and mito issues. The Pead can do ECG also

and read it....but I guess because I had Dr G letter saying ds had problems and

needed more tests added weight rather than from just mum. If ds had not had

Neuro appointment next day I would have waited for Pead appointment to ask for

tests Dr G suddested.

That is interesting is, have you been 'officially' diagnosed with POTS I've found the following on HMS/EDS:There are other physiological and psychological abnormalities that have come to light in connection with HMS. Impaired joint proprioceptive acuity (the proprioceptive system communicates with the brain so that even if your eyes are closed, you can tell which direction your arms are pointed, whether you are upside-down or just feel the presence of your own body. HMS sufferer often have an impaired ability to accurately know where their limbs etc are in space without looking at them. This makes it more easy to over extend joints and not know it). People with HMS also experience a lack of efficacy of local anesthetics either given topically or by injection. This is often problematic and distressing when having dental surgery, during childbirth (using epidural) or in minor surgery. Pain enhancement is another common problem leading to the development of a full chronic pain syndrome, resulting in acute and chronic pain being the dominant factor of every day life. There is also a significant association between HMS and anxiety states with panic attacks and phobic states. Panic disorder, agoraphobia and simple phobias are four(4) times more common among HMS patients. Recently Autonomic dysfunction was added to the list since HMS sufferer can complain of palpitations, light-headedness, dizziness or fainting, which are similar symptoms to those of patients with autonomic nervous system dysfunction.

Hi Nat and ,

Ds had bloods today for aminos, lactate, lithium, selenium, glucose(I asked for

this myself today as diabetis common autonomic illness) another 2 I forgot name

of sorry...organic acids or ?aminos (urine). The nurse said that some of the

tests were very rare ones they don't do so I think Neuro has been exceptionally

good to do them.

BS had the basic test done took 15=20 minutes. It is promising that the BS tests

are picking up things that then the NHS can follow up later when we have proof

of results.

The Neuro shows interest in the findings which is good start and sorry nowhere

near London sorry as from Wales.

Whatever the outcome I am happy the NHS are doing what they can to help ds...by

sounds of it ds is very lucky to get this help!

I will come back with results and if needed what NHS will do to help ds.

Hopefully ds will be well and not need intervention but glad Neuro investigating

it further.
