Diane: I'm not familiar with what you are saying about the income tax.

Could you explain it, is there a special deduction for children with a

disability? And, you can claim it retroactive?

Thanks, Vicky

have been told to go back to birth on income tax and claim her as a

disability sooner than at 7 yrs old. Mind you we did go retroactive

to birth and got back $7000 which was nice to be able to use for

her. The governement/doctors don't tell you what you are entitled to

at all, we just got her this past year a whole new computer system,

I didn't know about respite twice a year. The only $$ we were told

about was the meezly $119 a month we get for a handicapped child.

completely overwhelming them. What would you consider to be the most

important points to know about autism dx, treatments, and

acceptance? What do you wish you would have been told from day one?

What reading materials, websites, info do you think were most

valuable to your family?

Diane, I didn't know that either. That would be nice, as we are now in

home-school and could use a deduction.
