Guest guest
Please talk to your daughter's doctor as soon as you can. Cutting is not OCD but a symptom of a more serious mental illness. It can be associated with multiple disorders but I know of it being related to bipolar disorder. My exhusband started cutting when his bipolar hit an all time low and he was cutting himself (to the point of making permanent scars and possibly infecting himself with a dirty knife) because he was so severely depressed that he couldn't feel anything. At least the cutting was pain and he could deal with the pain because it was real and nothing else felt real. This may not make any sense to you but it made perfect sense to him and his psychiatrist. It is apparently quite common in mental illness but not in OCD. Cutting and suicide do not always go hand in hand but they can. Please watch her closely.
