Guest guest Posted August 17, 2004 Report Share Posted August 17, 2004 I need to know what kind of test there are that can show stomach problem causes in my son. He is always constipated. We just suffered through an hour of him crying in pain because his BM was too big to push out. It breaks my heart to see him hurt that bad. I wanted to get him tested for yeast overgrowth but was told that was unlikely the cause. Even though he had alot of antibiotics his second year of life. He had an ear infection every month to month and a half. If anyone can name a few tests that may show what is causing this I would appreciate it. Guest guest Posted August 18, 2004 Report Share Posted August 18, 2004 Yeast can cause constipation- it is almost 100% a kid has a yeast issue when they have been on many antibiotics. Grapefruit seed extract, or oil of oregano caps both kill yeast- easier on the liver than Diflucan, and easier on the stomach than Nystatin. -GA Re: test for stomach problems My son had the same problem and since he was already seeing a GI doctor we consulted with him about it. Turned out my sons problem was more diet than anything. Not just diet but the combination and then when it hurt to have a BM he started holding it making it worse. It got so bad that he almost ruined the plumbing in the house and a plumber was called on more than one occasion. We started giving him raisins and apple juice almost daily in small quantities to make sure he was going every day.
